TIME

I. CONTENT, STANDARDS, AND LEARNING COMPETENCIES

A. Content Standards The learners should have knowledge and understanding of
conversion of time measures of days, weeks, months, and
years.
B. Performance Standards By the end of the quarter, the learners are able to convert
units of days, weeks, months, and years.
C. Learning competencies The learners convert time measures from smaller to larger
units, and vice versa:
a. days to weeks
b. weeks to months
c. months to years
D. Learning objectives At the end of the lesson, the learners should be able to:
1. Convert days to weeks, months and years, and vice
versa
2. Determine what operation should be used when
converting smaller units to larger units and vice versa
3. Appreciate the importance of using time wisely

III. TEACHING AND LEARNING PROCEDURE

A. Activating Prior Knowledge Review previous lesson about converting time measures from
(Mind and Mood) larger units to smaller units and vice versa.
a. seconds to minutes
b. minutes to hours
c. seconds to hours

Instruction: Decode the message by completing the missing

equivalent time. Put the meta card with the corresponding
answer on the space provided above the number. Inside the
meta cards are the missing words.

1) 3 minutes = ____ seconds

2) 3 days = _____ hours
3) 2 hours = _____ minutes
4) 1 hour = _____ seconds
5) 360 seconds = _____ minutes
Message: “The best thing about the future is that
it comes one day at a time“

B. Establishing Lesson Let’s Sing a Song

Purpose
(Aims) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PyrtLVjakA0
(LUBI-LUBI)
(Let the learners sing along)

What is the song all about?

-It’s about the months in a year.

Very Good. It’s all about the months of the year. And where
can we finds these months, what particular thing can you
find in a calendar?

Okay, very good. On a calendar, we can find months of the

year, weeks, days of the week.
C. Developing and Deepening Class I have here a calendar for the year 2024.
Understanding
(Task and Thoughts)

How many months do we have in a year?

-12 months teacher

Can you name the months of the year?

- January, February, March, April, May, June,
July,
August, September, October, November, and
December
Now, let’s look at the number of days in each month.

Complete the table as shown below.

2024 CALENDAR
MONTH Number of Days
January 31
February 29
March 31
April 30
May 31
June 30
July 31
August 31
September 30
October 31
November 30
December 31

How many days are there in January? February? … and so on

Usually the average days of the month is 30 days. As you

can see, all of the months have a complete 30 days except
February.

I have a trivia for you class, but before that, I want to show
you a word and I want you to give your idea on the word.
-Teacher, the word is LEAP. Leap means to jump.

(The teacher will read the trivia, then, all the learners, and
lastly the teacher will call someone from the class to read the
trivia)

Good Job class. Usually there are 365 days in a year, but
during leap year there are 366 days.

How many days are there in 2024? - 366 days teacher

Great. Let’s observe the days of the week. How many Days
are there in a week? - 7 days teacher

Can you name the days of the week?

- Sunday, Monday, Tuesday,
Wednesday,
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday

Very good class. Now, if there are 7 days in a week, how

many weeks are there in a month?
– 4 weeks, teacher

DISCUSSION PROPER

A. Convert days to weeks Convert weeks to days

21 days = _____ weeks 4 weeks = _____ days

Solution: Solution:

21 days / 7 days = 3 weeks 4 weeks X 7 days = 28 days

B. Convert weeks to months Convert months to weeks

12 weeks = _____ months 5 months = _____ weeks

Solution: Solution:

12 weeks / 4 weeks = 3 5 months X 4 weeks = 20

months weeks

C. Convert months to years Convert years to months

48 months = _____ years 7 years = _____ months

Solution: Solution:

48 months / 12 months = 4 7 years X 12 months = 84

years months

REMEMBER
When converting When converting
smaller units to larger units, larger units to smaller units,
We DIVIDE We MULTIPLY
a. days to weeks a. weeks to days
b. weeks to months b. months to weeks
c. months to years c. years to months

DRILL

Instruction: Convert the following time measures using the

appropriate operation.

1. 70 days = _____ weeks

2. 24 months = _____ years
3. 5 weeks = _____ days
4. 3 years = _____ months
5. 3 months = _____ weeks

GROUP ACTIVITY

This time you will be divided into two (2 groups). Each group
will be given a task to perform.

(The teacher will give rules and regulations for the group
activity)

GROUP 1

Instructions: Convert the following time measures using the

appropriate operation.

a. There are 14 days.

How many weeks are there? __________________

b. There are 3 weeks.

f. There are 11 months

How many weeks are there? ________________

g. There are 5 months

How many weeks are there?_______________

h. There 60 months
How many years are there? _______________

i. There are 3 years

How many months are there? ______________

GROUP 2

Instructions: Find the pair of these hearts by identifying

each of
their equivalent measures by converting using
the
appropriate operation. Write the letter of your
choice on the space provided.
