Als Project - Class Xii
• The project will be ONE small project work to be covered in TERM II.
• Out of 10 marks allotted for the term, 5 marks will be allotted for the project
report/essay etc. and 5 marks for the viva.
• Suggestions for Selection of TOPIC:
➢ The topics can be inter-disciplinary in theme.
➢ The ideas/issues highlighted in the chapters/poems/drama given in the
prescribed books can also be developed in the form of a project.
➢ Any relevant topic and age-appropriate theme can also be taken. Identify a real
world problem and try to present a solution.
➢ Topics should provide students with opportunities for listening and speaking.
➢ Ideally, the chosen topic should allow a research/study element, be an age-
appropriate theme, allow listening-speaking opportunities and have a clear
*driving question.
(*A driving question is an open-ended question that students understand, find
interesting and helps exploration in their project.
Eg: How can I and my partner prove to our schoolmates that mental wellness is as
important as physical fitness?)
A) Interview-Based reaserch:
Example :
• Students can choose a topic on which to do their research/interview, e.g. a
student can choose the topic: “Evolving food tastes in my neighbourhood” or
“Corona pandemic and the fallout on families.” Read the available literature.
• The student then conducts interviews with a few neighbours on the topic. For an
interview, with the help of the teacher, student will frame questions(a
questionnaire to be prepared) based on the preliminary research/background.
• The students will then write an essay/ write up/ report etc. up to 1000 words on
his/her research and submit it. She/he will then take a viva on the research
project.
B) Students listen to podcasts/interviews/radio or TV documentary on a topic and prepare
a report countering or agreeing with the speakers. Write an 800-1000 words report and
submit. Take a viva on the report.
C) Survey-based research
Students can choose a topic on which to do their survey. Questions for the survey have
to be prepared depending on the target group of the survey. Record the findings in the
form of a report. Take a viva on the project.
• Plan:
➢ Students choose a topic and get it approved by the teacher.
➢ A logical, deliverable and practical plan is drafted by the student.
➢ Goals/objectives are clearly defined.
➢ Detailed project schedules are shared with the teacher.
➢ Students should have an idea about:
How will we begin, what are we required to do, how do I create the driving
question, what are the products I want, how do I design them, what are the
deadlines, how can I present the report, etc.
