1 Define Custom Attributes (Dynamic
Columns) for SAP Business Workflow
Tasks

With custom attributes, you can define business-related properties and assign them to user tasks, such as
project ID or project name. You can expose custom attributes to My Inbox.

Procedure

1. Log on to your Business Workflow system.

2. To create client-independent custom attributes, start transaction SWF_USER_ATTR_DEF.
a. In change mode, choose Create New Entry.
b. Enter the following data:

Field Description

Task/Workflow Choose one of the following granularity options:

○ Task: To expose the same custom attributes for all workflow steps that re
use your task, for example, Task TS78500059.
○ Workflow Step: To expose custom attributes for a particular step in a work
flow that is referenced by its step ID, for example, Task WS02000006 and
Step ID 1.
This is particularly useful when one workflow uses a task in several differ
ent ways, for example, attaced to several different roles. Then users who
perform a technical approval see a different list than users who approve
from the business perspective.

Step ID This is only relevant for scenarios.

cific place in the My Inbox application. For more information, see Display Cus
tom Attributes in My Inbox.

Description Display name of the attribute on the UI. Enter a text with up to 40 characters.

Data Type ABAP Type of element

Save Value As On creation and on completion, the value of the expression is persisted in a hu
man readable format: string, integer, or decimal.
