4. In a Factory employing 3000 persons, five percent earn less than 3 birr per hour, 580 earn
from birr 4 to 7 per hour, 30 percent earn from 8 to birr 11 per hour, 500 earn from birr 12 to 15
per hour, 20 percent earn from 16 to 19 per hour and the rest earn birr 20 or more per hour. What
is the median and modal wage?

5. The following data presents grouped frequency distribution for result (mark) of 85 student’s
on Introduction to Statistics final examination. Construct the full grouped frequency distribution
based up on the given information?

6. A chess tournament has 10 competitors, of which 4 are Russian, 3 are from the United States,
2 are from Great Britain, and 1 is from Brazil. If the tournament result lists just the nationalities
of the players in the order in which they placed, how many outcomes are possible?

7. Two factors A and B are engaged in some activity .Their average weekly wages and standard
deviation is as follows:

Factor mean wages standard wages number of wages

A 460 50 100
B 490 40 800

c) Find the standard deviation of the combined data

d) Which factory shows greater uniformity and greater consistent in the distribution of
wages?

one defective phone and box 2 contains 2 defective phones. After the boxes are unpacked, a
phone is selected and found to be defective. Then,

a) Find the probability that defective phone is selected

b) Find the probability that the selected defective phone is came from box 2.
9. Suppose that A and B are two events associated with an experiment. If the probability that A
or B occurs is 0.6 while probability that event A occurs equal to 0.4. What is the probability
that B occurs.
(a) Assume that A and B are Mutually Exclusive

(b) Assume that A and B are dependent if p(A/B) = 0.04

(c) What is P(A/AUB)
