Task and solution

2. Task and solution

2.1. The task
High availability and scalability with ever more compact design are just one of the many challenges that the process
industry places on the automation systems and their components.
When planning a control cabinet and selecting the hardware components, it is important to make optimum use of the
available space. Systems and components must also be flexibly scaled to specific areas and tasks in order to minimize
costs during planning and configuration.
The focus in the choice of the components of an automation system is therefore simple handling during installation and
maintenance and high availability of the automation system.
In order to meet the increasing and diverse requirements, future-proof and innovative technologies must be used above
all.

2.2. Solution
The SIMATIC ET 200SP HA hardware innovation in combination with the SIMATIC PCS 7 process control system offers a
scalable and high availability I/O system. The distributed I/O combines high flexibility and scalability with compact design.
The PROFINET communication standard is used to connect process signals to a higher-level controller, such as the 410-5H.
This application example describes the standard and high availability hardware configuration of the ET 200SP HA and its
components.
Single and redundant connection of the PROFINET interface module IM 155 6 PN HA is described in connection with the
innovative and flexible I/O module AI DI 16/DQ16x24VDC HART HA with freely configurable inputs and outputs.
In addition, the application example includes cross-channel and channel-specific signal configuration in PCS 7 using the
example of the digital/analog module.
HART variables and multiHART areas are configured using the example of the SITRANS TH300 temperature transducer and
integrated into PCS 7 using the Advanced Process Library.
The configuration of the distributed I/O and the HART field device as well as operation and monitoring are performed in
the PCS 7 environment.

Task and solution

Scalability and flexibility

The station of the ET 200SP HA supports a configuration with up to 56 modules. Depending on the requirements,
interface modules are available for single and redundant connection to the automation system. You can also select
between single and redundant (IO redundancy) terminal blocks. The plant can be expanded without interruption during
ongoing operation by plugging in additional modules.

High availability from redundant components

The following redundant components are available for the ET 200SP HA:

• Redundant connection to the automation system via PROFINET with two interface modules
• Redundantly switched I/O modules (IO redundancy) with redundant terminal blocks

NOTE IO redundancy, which so far has been configured with additional Marshalled Termination Assemblies
(MTA), is made possible for the ET 200SP HA by the redundant terminal block with two I/O modules
that communicate with one another.

Hot-swapping the device

The hot swap function is possible in both cases, non-redundant and redundant configuration of the components, i.e.
modules can be exchanged with applied voltage during operation.

Communication
The connection of the ET 200SP HA over PROFINET is made using a PROFINET BusAdapter. These are plugged into the
interface modules.
The following connection options are available:

7. Select the respective subnet of the two slots

(in this application example: "Slot0: Fieldbus1 and Slot1: Fieldbus2").

NOTE Changing the IP address is optional. The IP address is assigned automatically when the interface
module is inserted in the PROFINET system and the outgoing IP address of the controller is
incremented.

3.1.3. Preparation for automatic commissioning with

topology configuration
Automatic commissioning
In an automation system, a configured device name must be assigned to each PROFINET IO device. The device names can
be assigned in different ways:

• Manually
• Through special storage media
• PROFINET BusAdapter
• Through automatic commissioning with topology configuration
Automatic commissioning has the following advantages:

• Simplified, less time-consuming commissioning

• Minimizes errors
• More flexibility when exchanging devices
The device identification of IO devices is performed during automatic commissioning via a configured target topology
which is created offline and then loaded into the IO controller.
Using the configured topology, the IO controller identifies the IO devices and assigns the configured names of the HW
Config.

• No removable media with stored device names required

• No programming required

Hardware engineering for ET 200SP HA

Topology Editor
The Topology Editor is available for topology configuration in the HW Config. In the Topology Editor, a defined target
topology is created that corresponds to the actual topology (physical connection of the IO nodes).
The following options are available for creating a target topology in the Topology Editor:

• Tabular interconnection
• Graphical interconnection
The recommended graphical interconnection is described in this application example.

NOTE You can find additional information and notes on topology configuration in the document "PROFINET
in SIMATIC PCS 7 Guidelines and Blueprints":
https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/72887082

NOTE The topology configuration is only possible within a subproject, in other words, the stations with a
common PROFINET network must be in the same subproject.

Requirements for automatic commissioning

• IO controllers and IO devices are configured in HW Config
• IO controllers and IO devices must support the PROFINET functionality "Device replacement without exchangeable
medium / PG"
• Devices and replacement devices must be reset to the factory settings for device replacement

Target topology via graphical interconnection

1. Open the object properties of the CPU interface to which the redundant interface module is connected (in this
application example: "Interface X5").
2. Go to the "General" tab and select the check box "Support device replacement without exchangeable medium".

3. Right-click on the interface of the CPU to which the redundant interface module is connected (in this application
example: "Interface X5") and open the Topology Editor ("PROFINET IO Topology…").
4. Switch to the "Graphic view" tab.
5. Connect the individual component interfaces corresponding to the physical connection.
Click on the interface of a device and, keeping mouse pointer pressed, drag the connection onto the interface of the
connection partner. Release the mouse pointer.

NOTE The actual topology (physical connection) must match the target topology (Topology Editor).

6. Confirm your settings by clicking "OK".

7. Save and compile your configuration, and download it to the CPU.

3.2. Configuration of the IO interface with

the input/output module
This section describes the configuration of the AI DI 16/DQ 16x24VDC HART HA input/output module with a single and
redundant terminal block (IO redundancy).
The innovative I/O module provides you with a high degree of flexibility when connecting different signal forms.
The following variants are configurable:

• Variant 1: DI 16/DQ16x24VDC HA in digital mode

• Variant 2: AI-DI 16/DQ 16x24VDC HART HA as digital/analog module in mixed mode
In mixed mode, you can select the 16 inputs of the I/O module as digital inputs or as analog inputs with or without HART
via the configuration.
The 16 outputs of the I/O module can be operated either as digital outputs or as a sensor supply for the corresponding
input.
You have the option of changing the configuration of the inputs in RUN mode of the CPU and, for example, switching
inputs from digital input to analog input in mixed mode.
With a cross-channel configuration, you can configure up to 16 channels in one step and doing so during operation.
If you only need digital inputs or outputs, you should use variant 1. Variant 1 distinguishes itself with a smaller I/O address
range, which is reserved.

NOTE You can find detailed information on the input/output module and the configuration options in the
device manual "SIMATIC ET 200SP HA AI-DI 16/DQ16x24VDC HART"

3.2.1. Configuring a single IO connection

1. Drag the input/output module of the single interface module from the module catalog to the slot in which you
physically plugged in the I/O module (in this application example: "Slot 2").

NOTE If you are operating the I/O module in pure digital mode, select the I/O module for pure digital mode DI
16/DQ 16x24VCD HA from the block catalog.
The I/O module for pure digital operation is located in the subgroup catalog "AI".

2. Perform the signal configuration, as described in the section 2.3.

Hardware engineering for ET 200SP HA

NOTE The ET 200SP HA and the CPU 410-5H support the CiR (Configuration in Run) function.
No additional configuration of CiR is required in the HW Config with a PROFINET system.
The CiR functionality is indicated by an orange marking of the symbol headline of the ET 200SP HA in
the HW Config (only for CPU 410-5H firmware version 8.2 and ET 200SP HA).

Configuring potential groups

1. Double-click on the I/O module and open the "Parameters" tab.
2. Open the "Potential group" subfolder and select in the drop-down window whether the module is to form a new
potential group (light terminal block) or the potential group of the left module (dark terminal block).
In this application example, the I/O module has its own potential group: "Enable new potential group (light terminal
block)".

NOTE When configuring the terminal blocks and I/O modules, be sure to observe the installation rules for
potential groups.
Only terminal blocks for individual I/O modules or IO redundancy may be plugged in a potential group.
You can find detailed information on the installation rules for potential groups in the system manual
"SIMATIC ET 200SP HA ET 200SP HA Distributed I/O system":

Hardware engineering for ET 200SP HA

3.2.2. Configuring IO redundancy

In redundancy mode, both I/O modules measure the process value simultaneously and independently. The left I/O module
is the master with the leading channels and is used for process value processing in the AS.
If a module or a leading channel fails, the switchover is made to the partner module. If an error is corrected, there is not
switchover of the affected channels.
HART communication is performed exclusively via the leading channel.

NOTE If you configure IO redundancy, both I/O modules communicate independently.

It is not necessary to use the RedLib library for IO redundancy.

NOTE Redundant I/O devices must be identical, i.e. they must have the same article number, the same
hardware status and the same firmware status.

1. Drag the input/output module of the redundant interface module from the module catalog and drop it into the
appropriate slot.
2. Because a redundant terminal block with two I/O modules is used, you must drop the module onto two slots
(in this application example: "Slot 2 and Slot 3").

3. Open the "Redundancy" tab in the object properties.

5. In the "Synchronization Role" drop-down list, "Master" for the left module.

In the object properties of the right module, "Slave" is shown in the "Synchronization role" drop-down list.

NOTE If you want to operate the two modules independently (no IO redundancy), you must set "None" in the
"Redundancy" drop-down list for one of the two modules.
In this case, what is shown in the "Synchronization role" field is irrelevant.

NOTE When configuring the terminal blocks and I/O modules, be sure to observe the installation rules for
potential groups (see section 3.2.1: "Configuring potential groups").

6. Perform the signal configuration, as described in the section 3.3.

3.3. Signal configuration

The I/O modules of the ET 200SP HA support cross-channel configuration. Settings and configurations for all channels are
performed in one step.
Cross-channel configuration of the channels in digital mode and the channel specific configuration in mixed mode
(digital/analog) are performed and described using the example of the input/output module.
The configuration of the channels is the same for high-availability and standard configuration of the I/O modules.

NOTE You can re-configure individual channels of the module as well as configure the HART variables in RUN
without affecting the other channels.
In mixed mode, for example, individual input channels can be re-configured from digital input to
analog input in RUN without affecting other channels.

3.4. Hot-swapping: replacing I/O modules

with applied voltage during operation
ET 200SP HA supports the replacement of I/O modules with applied voltage during operation.
I/O modules with switched-on load and switched-on power supply may not be pulled during operation without first
electrically disconnecting them. For this case, the following I/O modules of the ET 200SP HA can be electrically
disconnected via a release button, among others:

• Input/output module AI-DI 16/DQ16x24VDC HART HA

• Digital output module DI 16x24VDC HA
• Digital output module DQ 16x24VDC/0.5A
• Digital output module RQ 4x120VDC-230VAC/5A CO HA
Other modules that are equipped with a release button, can be found in the following entry:
https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/ww/en/view/109747953
Electrical disconnection via the release button prevents arcs that can damage the ET 200SP HA and the connected sensors
and actuators. Pull and plug I/O modules with the release button only when the load is switched off.
1. If you are using one of the above I/O modules, press the release button for 3 seconds.
2. After 3 seconds, the red diagnostic LED flashes and the yellow maintenance LED lights up permanently. The diagnostic
message "Switch-off via unlock button" is generate in OS Runtime.
3. The I/O module is disconnected from the terminal block and you can replace the module.
4. The new I/O module starts automatically after installation.

NOTE I/O modules without a release button can be replaced during operation without any effect on the
remaining I/Os.

3.5. Station expansion during operation

The ET 200SP HA can be expanded to a maximum of 56 modules during operation.
1. Remove the server module and pull the Powerbus cover at the end of the station.
2. Click on the subrack module on the DIN rail and slide it onto the last component of the station on the SP bus.
3. Plug the terminal block into the subrack module. The subrack module and terminal block form the slot for the I/O
module.
4. Plug the I/O module into the slot.
5. Reconnect the station with the server module and the Powerbus cover at the end of the station.

Equipping with reserve modules

The passive backplane bus allows flexible station structures during operation. The expansion of the station can be
performed without interruption by using slot covers.

specific device description for SIMATIC PDM.
5. Save and compile your configuration, and download it to the CPU.

4.2. Configuration of multiHART areas and

HART variables
HART field devices supply additional process variables such as electronic temperature or sensor temperature to the
process value.
These measured variables are configured via HART variables in an I/O module in the HW Config and processed cyclically by
the controller.
One I/O module supports a maximum of four HART variables per channel, each consisting of a 4-byte real value and 1-
byte quality code. If at least one HART variable is configured in the input address space, the addresses are used for all
eight variables (40 bytes in total).
Standard HART I/O modules support a maximum of eight HART variables for the entire module and a maximum of four
variables (PV, SV, TV and QV) per channel.

multiHART area
As of SIMATIC PCS 7 V9.0, the "multiHART area" function is supported when working with the I/O modules AI DI
16/DQ16x24VDC HART HA, AQ 8xI HART HA and AI 16xI 2 wire HART of the ET 200SP HA, among others.
In contrast to the previous configuration with a maximum of eight HART variables, the "multiHART area" function allows
all available measured variables (HART variables) of the connected field devices to be read. The I/O modules process HART
communication in parallel, i.e. all channels simultaneously.
A distinction is made between the following multiHART areas:

• With "1 multiHART", one HART variable of a field device is called up in each cycle. This means that primary to
quaternary variables of the first field device are called up in succession in each cycle, then primary to quaternary
variables of the second field device, etc.
• With "4 multiHART", four HART variables are called per cycle. That is, all four HART variables of a field device are called
simultaneously. In each subsequent cycle, the four HART variables of the next field device are called up, etc. ("4
multiHART" is only possible with the AI DI 16/DQ16x24VDC HART HA I/O module).

Integration of a HART field device

The configuration for reading the HART variables (8 HART variables, multiHART areas) can be changed in RUN mode of the
CPU.
Recommendation for using the multiHART area:

• With more than two field devices on the I/O module

• With more than eight HART variables per I/O module
In this application example, the "1 multiHART" function is configured as an example on the AI DI 16/DQ16x24VDC HART
HA I/O module and the channel-specific configuration of a maximum of eight HART variables is described.

NOTE The value assigned to a respective variable (for example, electronic temperature, sensor temperature)
is configured in the device, for example, via SIMATIC PDM.

Memory allocation
When using the multiHART areas, the input and output address space is allocated as follows:

• With "1 multiHART", 6-byte input address space and 1-byte output address space are used
• With "4 multiHART", 24-byte input address space and 4-byte output address space are used (only for AI DI
16/DQ16x24VDC HART HA I/O modules).

Channel blocks for the multiHART function
The Advanced Process Library provides the "Pcs7HaAI" and "Pcs7HaAO" channel blocks for processing multiHART areas in
addition to the previous HART channel blocks "FbAnIn" and "FbAnOn" for processing individual HART variables. The
channel blocks cyclically process up to four HART variables of a channel or a HART field device.
Two HART variables can be displayed in a display block of the OS via the interconnection of the auxiliary values.
Alternatively, a separate faceplate can be used for displaying the measured value for each HART variable.

NOTE For the complete integration of SITRANS field devices in PCS 7, the SITRANS Library is available for
download with special driver/function modules and faceplates:
