Introduction
WELCOME TO THE JOURNEY
A strong vocabulary is essential for success in university admission exams like IBA, BUP, and other
competitive tests in Bangladesh. Beyond exam scores, it sharpens your communication skills,
enhances critical thinking, and boosts your confidence in both academic and everyday life.
This book is designed to help you build and retain vocabulary using the proven method of spaced
repetition. Rather than memorizing words temporarily, you’ll master them for the long term,
making them part of your natural vocabulary.
In my experience teaching thousands of students, I’ve seen that success comes from smart
strategies and consistency. This book reflects that—structured to help you learn, review, and truly
understand each word. Whether you’re preparing for an exam or simply looking to improve your
language skills, this book will guide you in mastering the power of words. Let's begin!
SPACED REPETITION
Spaced repetition is a learning technique that optimizes the timing of reviews based on how well
you remember information. Instead of cramming all at once, you study a word multiple times over
increasing intervals, which helps move the information from short-term to long-term memory.
This book utilizes a method called spaced repetition, which is designed to help you retain
vocabulary more effectively over time. To make this process manageable, words are grouped into
sets of 25, referred to as "chunks." Each day, you’ll focus on studying one chunk of words.
These revision notifications will come in the following way, for example for Chunk 1 on the 2nd day,
"Revise these words: Chunk 1 -Banal, Cultivate, Cunning, Dearth, Agnostic, Counteract, Jubilant,
Knell, Laceration, Lurid, Innuendo, Defer, Ebullient, Ineffable, Contentious, Malleable, Mandate,
Nadir, Obdurate, Maelstrom, Pallid, Penultimate, Quixotic, Revoke, Obfuscate.”
When revising from these notifications, instead of just searching for the words, try to make
sentences with them and write it down. Try to check how much of it you can remember and recall.
