LOAD CARRYING CAPACITY OF PILES (STATIC ANALYSIS)

For Cast In Situ Bored Piles (As per IS 2911 (Part 1/Sec 2) : 2010)
(Considering GWT at EGL)
Site - Proposed Factory Shed of Bengal Beverages Pvt Ltd at Paraj, Burdwan, West Bengal
EGL (±) 0.00m EGL
Cut off LVL = (-) 1.5 m

Toe LVL at (-) 12 m from EGL

ST- I, Total Depth = 9.0m C= 4.00 ton/m2, γ = 1.88 ton/m3, α = 1.00

ST- II, Total Depth = 1.0 m ɸ= 340, γ = 1.98 ton/m3, K = 1, δ = (340- 30) = 310

Pile Dia (D) = 600 mm

Pile Length (L) = 10.00 m from EGL
Cut off Length = 1.5 m
Ultimate Capacity Due to End Bearing Resistance
End Stratum => Clay *φ' = (φ - 3) = 0 deg
Pile should be atleast embedded 4 times
C= 4 t/m2
of its diameter into the end stratum]
ϒ = 1.88 t/m3

Here the End Stratum is Clay

Therefore, End Bearing Resistance = = 10 ton
Here, Nc = 9
And CP = 4 t/m2
Ap = cross-sectional area of pile tip = 0.28 m2

But as per Tomlinson recommendation, in sand unit skin friction should not exceed 11 ton/m2.
Therefore, considering Tomlinson's recommendation, stratum-wise total skin friction

Hence, total skin friction developed due to the effective stratums

surrounding the pile shaft = ∑ = 67 ton

Therefore total ultimate pile capacity (Q u) = 77 ton

Therefore, Safe Load Carrying Capacity in Compression (Q s) = 31 Ton (FS = 2.5)

And, Safe Load Carrying Capacity in Tension = 22 Ton (FS = 3)
