The Difference between a beginner and the average WoW player is really not that
much. There are some crucial things that need to be discussed though.
Some of these points are just no-brainers. I am reinforcing them just so there are NO
gray areas in this guide.
Most of these tips here will be geared toward lower levels. Most mistakes are made
then because you are extremely new to the game. Once you level a character into the
higher levels it gives you basic knowledge of the game mechanics and you don't make
the same mistakes.
Using the methods in this guide I want to get one thing straight. DO NOT hack, bot,
scam, exploit or ninja.
This will ruin your reputation and in some area's will ruin your account. Most hacks out
there don't work, and are just programs created to get key loggers on your computer.
Blizzard has been very good at preventing an type of cheating. Bots are being banned
left and right, while if you dare to exploit the game mechanics, you are asking for a
swift hit in the rear with a banstick.
I do not support any of these. There are plenty of ways to make gold JUST as fast, but
they wont ruin your account at the same time.
Ruining your reputation is a costly mistake. People will gladly advertise if you are a
scammer or ninja. This loss in your reputation will not only hinder friendships or
grouping events inside the game, but it will also hinder your gold collecting abilities.
No one respects a cheater. I strongly discourage any of your attempts in these area's.
With that being cleared up, let's move on to the real information.
One common mistake made by players is to only loot items they “need”. For example:
warrior's don't loot water because they can't use it, or gray items that can't be used are
left on the mobs.
This is a giant mistake. You want to loot each and every item that drops off of mobs.
This means you will need a lot of bag space because you are looting every item that
drops. The one and only thing low level characters should upgrade is bag space. You
are able to collect a descent amount of gold at low levels.
When you get your first couple pieces of gold it should directly be spent on bags. You
want bag space because it gives you longer grinding or questing sessions.
Every time your bags are full, you should finish the quest you are doing, and then
head back to a town or mailbox to empty out your bags. You want to vendor all the
items you don't need. Every little item you pick up, whether it vendors for a couple
copper or silver it helps to your total gold count.
Make A Mule
A mule character is simple as it looks. Mule characters just store and carry items.
Using a mule character makes the previous tip possible at all times.
When you first start leveling you will get greens even some blue's that you wont know
what to do with. Some may vendor, some may disenchant, some may AH. You wont
know right offhand. When you are looting and vendoring/AH'ing all on one character,
you wont have enough space to loot properly.
Instead of making constant runs to the AH each time you fill up, you can send your
items to a mule character and worry about throwing them on the auction house at a
later time.
Every server should have atleast one mule. It givers you the opportunity to have an
extra row of bags and an extra bank. On top of all this you have UNLIMITED amounts
of space for 30 days at a time. Let's say you have a huge amount of cloth you plan on
using for bandages later. Send them to your mule account.
Just let them sit in the mail box. When your main character is ready to use it simply
“return” the cloth. It will instantly show up on your main character, instead of waiting
the 1hour transfer time. It also takes up no space!
When you start out on a character you really don't need to get upgrades at low levels.
By levels I'm referring to 1-40. The damage your characters do, and the survivability of
your character comes from the spells and abilities. There aren't any game changing
items at those low levels.
Keep your eyes out of the AH! You don't want to waste gold on those items, when you
can simply find them from mobs, or from quest/instance rewards!
A lot of low level players waste all their gold on items that will be upgraded in a few
levels just from quests. Just be patient, nothing much will change from items at these
levels.
Professions
As a low level player you WANT to pick professions as low as possible. They are a
great way to make some income. Being a new player you want to stay away from
crafting professions because they cost gold to level up.
You can make a good amount of gold just from using the three main gathering
professions:
● Skinning
● Mining
● Herbalism
When you get these professions just gather the items as they come along while you
are out leveling.
Every item you gather save it and stack it up until you get full stacks. List them on the
AH and you will see a giant leap in your gold income.
Another simple wasted opportunity by low levels. They spend all their time grinding for
gold or gathering recipes or materials to make gold. Making gold is good at low levels,
but it's so much easier at high levels!
The higher level you are, the more options you have to farm gold. While you are a low
level you have limited options. Stick to questing/grinding for exp and let the gold flow
in on your mule character. The higher level you get the more money will flow in just
from the grinding/questing alone.
One of the best ways to farm gold at low levels is to just to grind through your exp.
You will want to stick with humanoid mobs when you are grinding. These types of
mobs drop the highest amount of coins and they also drop greens more frequently.
If that wasn't enough then they also drop loads of cloth! Selling cloth on the auction
house is one of the biggest sources of gold for low level players.
This is a MEGA-MISTAKE. Every new player falls victim of it. When you don't know
the prices of the items that your selling your bound to have someone rip you off. Every
time you get an item that you don't know the price for (these mainly mean blues and
epics) you should swiftly go check the average prices on WoWhead and Allakhazam.
You don't want to sell an item because a “friend”, “guild mate” or any random guy told
you it was priced lower. When you are unsure make sure you check those sites to get
an idea.
