ROLE PROFILE

JOB TITLE: Head of IT & MIS


DATE: 18.10.2018

REPORTS TO: Primarily MD & Advisor. Project wise reporting to


Concerned Director

FUNCTION: Lead Infrastructure & Software Projects, Eliminate


Security Risks, Identify & address ICT Needs, Oversee Day to Day IT
Operation, Monitor Network and Application Systems

LOCATION: United Group Corporate Office.

PURPOSE STATEMENT

To head and manage the IT & MIS functions and establishments of the
group and contribute in to achieving organizational goals by using
information technology and facilitate all users achieving their Individual
operational priorities through information system.

DIMENSIONS
Staffs: Currently 15 Staffs are reporting to Head of IT & MIS. Among the
15, 3 persons belong to Unimart and 3 belong to Chefs Table.
Financial: Since January 2017, this position led in implementing IT
Solution (Software, Network, Hardware) for around 800 users, 5
geographic location, 5 power plants, 1 Hyper Market, 1 Express Shop, 2
Pharmacies etc. This position annually manages a procurement of
software, enterprise systems, servers and user grade hardware of around
BDT 85 lac to 1 crore.
Others: Supports around 1208 employees throughout the organization in
8 distributed locations of the country

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Lead IT strategic and operational planning to achieve UG goals by


fostering innovation, prioritizing IT initiatives, and coordinating the
evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future IT
systems across the organization.
2. Perform duties of IT portfolio management including capacity
planning with budgets, ERP and its processes in coordination with
consultants and vendors. Oversee the development, design, and
implementation of new applications and changes in the existing
computing systems and software packages.
3. Manage and formulate IT budget and ensure Business and
Technology Management for end to end application scoping,
planning, development, implementation and post implementation
maintenance and support.
4. Develop and implement policies, procedures and contingency plans
aligned with organizational goals in order to minimize the effects of
security breaches. Update management about IT security risks,
issues, achievements and project/department milestones.
5. Work with functional heads, directors and other staffs to assess and
respond to organizational IT needs and establish / maintain IT
application / infrastructure to support and guide business units and
departments in computing and information technology efforts.
Conduct business and technical studies to identify, investigate and
analyze business processes procedures and work practices and
evaluate inefficiencies and recommend optimal business practices,
system functionality & behavior.
6. Ensure timely ordering, acquisition, inventorying, and disposition
of hardware and software.
7. Ensure instant support to resolve any kind of technical problem
through verifying/ analyzing the root causes and ensure proper
functioning of IT software system / IT server and involve third party
service providers (if required) to restore the system. Also certify all
back up and disaster recovery procedures and plan as per
management endorsement.
8. Define, implement, maintain appropriate performance measures for
staff and third party service providers and provide day to day
supervision and delegate work assignments for all IT personnel and
liaise with the technical services and data services groups to
ensure any new modules and manage project team members,
external, vendors including consultants, contractors etc.
9. Develop and maintain a robust team (application, infrastructure,
and support) through training, coaching to ensure uninterrupted
service is provisioned for business continuity to the end users
through IT helpdesk and IT service desk
10. Promote team building and provide growth paths for people
working in IT function and keep them motivated. Hold regular
departmental meetings with staff to review IT projects (CAPEX,
OPEX) and initiatives
11. Perform any other task assigned by management.

i) Context/Environment

1. In the modern era, ICT sector is the key to any business. The role of
IT & MIS department is an inseparable part of any organization at
present time. The team works for timely data availability, data
security, identifying technology need and ensures smooth user
experience for performing every system users day to day jobs.
2. The job operates in a highly sensitive and technically challenging
environment requiring the ability to handle technology and people
with caution.
3. This position deals with highly classified information of the group
along with some level of authority impacting other employees’
interest at times.

ii) Knowledge, Skills & Experience

1. Should be a B.Sc or M.Sc in ICT Engineering or any Related


Engineering Subjects with preferably MBA;
2. Fluent in written and spoken English and Bangla with excellent
communication skill.
3. Sound knowledge about business and its processes, ICT systems,
Networking, Servers, Applications & Development lifecycle.
4. At least 6 Years of proven experience of leading an IT team with
similar responsibilities in a reputed commercial organization with
several years of experience in ERP implementation, Hardware
sizing, Software Development lifecycle, Networking and
Information Security.
