Application Developer -Python for IT PMU of MoPSW and IPA

Job Title: Application Developer -Python

Project: IT PMU of MoPSW and IPA- To be part of all IT initiatives of the Ministry of
Ports, Shipping and Waterway (MoPSW) and Indian Ports Association (IPA).

Location: MoPSW/ IPA, New Delhi

Duration: Initially for 36 months


Resource Count: 2

Role Overview:

The Application Development - Python will be responsible for designing, building, and
testing high-quality software applications. This role focuses on developing scalable
and efficient solutions, performing proof of concept (PoC) for emerging technologies,
and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver key IT projects. The ideal
candidate will have sound expertise in Python programming, be comfortable working
in both development and testing environments, and have experience with modern
software development practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain Python-based applications ensuring high


performance, responsiveness, and scalability.
• Collaborate with teams to gather requirements, create technical specifications,
and develop robust solutions that meet business needs.
• Conduct Proof of Concept (PoC) projects to validate technology assumptions,
architectures, and solutions.
• Write clean, efficient, and reusable code, following best practices for software
development and version control (e.g., Git).
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects and technical issues in a
timely manner.
• Implement automated testing and continuous integration to ensure software
quality and reliability.
• Optimize application performance by identifying bottlenecks and implementing
efficient code structures.
• Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications and user
guides.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in Python and related
technologies to drive innovation.

Skill Set/Experience Required:

• Strong proficiency in Python: Extensive experience with Python frameworks


such as Django, Flask, or FastAPI.
• Experience with software development practices: including object-oriented
programming, RESTful APIs, and microservices.
• Familiarity with front-end technologies: such as JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
for full-stack development (desirable but not mandatory).

• Experience in database management: with SQL or NoSQL databases like


PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, etc.
• Understanding of software testing: including unit testing, integration testing,
and test-driven development (TDD).
• Familiarity with DevOps tools: including Docker, Jenkins, and Kubernetes for
automated deployments (desirable).
• Ability to conduct PoC projects: Demonstrate experience in conducting Proof
of Concept and showcasing the feasibility of new technologies.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies: Ability to work in sprints,
handle backlogs, and collaborate with product owners and project managers.

Qualifications:

• Mandatory:
o BE in Computer Science/IT or MCA or equivalent.
o 2-5 years of hands-on software development experience, with a focus
on Python programming.
• Desirable:
o Prior experience in Proof of Concept development.
o Experience in both frontend and backend development (full-stack
expertise is a plus).
o Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
