TASK 2 Problem solving

1 Mr N is a farmer. He has a rectangular field that measures 750 m by 640 m.

a) What is the area of Mr N’s farm in hectares?

Mr N wants to sell of his field. He will charge $4250 per hectare.

b) How much money does Mr N receive?

2 Mr P is a builder. He is going to buy a rectangular plot of land that measures 650 m by

430 m. He will pay $3975 per hectare. Mr P is going to build 8 houses on the land.

What is the minimum price that Mr P should charge for each house so that he makes a profit?
Give your answer to the nearest dollar.

3 A farm grows beans, sorghum and quinoa. Beans are grown on a rectangular field that
measures 125 m by 160 m. The area of sorghum is twice the area of beans and the area of
quinoa is three quarters of the area of beans.

What is the total area of the farm? Give your answer in hectares.
