Lecture 3

let's get started........

Computer Memory

A computer system needs memory to store

ELITE
the data and instructions for processing. Both
the input and the output data can be held
here.
CLASSES
"Enlighting Education"
It is the same as a human mind,
where data, information, and
instructions are stored.
Units of Memory
A computer system uses binary numbers to store
and process data.

ELITE
The binary digits 0 and 1, which are the basic units

CLASSES
of memory, are called bits.
A 4-bits word is called a Nibble. Examples of
nibble are 1001, 1010, 0010,"Enlighting
etc. Education"
A two nibble word, i.e., 8-bits word is called a
byte, for example, 01000110, 01111100, 10000001,
etc.
Units of Memory
Like any other standard unit, bytes are grouped together to
make bigger chunks or units of memory.

ELITE
4 Bits=1 Nibble

CLASSES
8Bits=1 byte
