(a) Distinguish between path length and displacement.


(b) A boy is running at a speed of 2.5 ms-1 for 5 minutes. He then completes the remaining distance by
walking for another 5 minutes at a speed of 1ms-1 . Find the average speed of the boy.
(c) Derive the first equation of motion.
(d) What is projectile motion? At what angle of projection the body will get maximum height?
(e) A projectile has a velocity of 49m/s at an angle of 300 with the horizontal. Calculate
(i) time of flight (ii) horizontal range
5. Short Answer Type Question (B): [4x5=20]

(a) Define vector quantities and write its various types.


(b) Show that the path of projectile motion is parabolic.
(c) Obtain a formula for range of projectile for angular projection.
(d) What are contact forces? Explain.
(e) A ball of mass 2.5 kg is moving with a velocity of 30 m/s and brought to rest in 0.1 s.
Calculate the retardation of the motion.

Explain parallelogram law of vector addition.

(d) Derive the equations of motion for freely falling object in one dimension.

A car is moving along a straight highway with speed of 126 km/h is brought to rest with in a distance
of 200m. What is the retardation of the car (assumed uniform), and how long does it take for car to
stop.
