1. List essential attitudes/habits of mind which are considered as foundation of

reflective practice and describe how each can contribute to teacher
effectiveness in his/her work?
There are some essential attitudes/habits of mind which are considered as foundation of
reflective practice and each can contribute to teacher effectiveness in his/her work. Some ot
them listed below

i. Enjoys Teaching:- Teaching is meant to be a very enjoyable and rewarding career field
(although demanding and exhausting at times!). You should only become a teacher if
you love children and intend on caring for them with your heart. Let your passion for
teaching shine through each and everyday. Enjoy every teaching moment to the fullest.
ii. Makes a Difference:- There is a saying, "With great power, comes great responsibility".
As a teacher, you need to be aware and remember the great responsibility that comes
with your profession. One of your goals ought to be: Make a difference in their lives.
iii. Spreads Positivity:- Bring positive energy into the classroom every single day. You have
a beautiful smile so don't forget to flash it as much as possible throughout the day.
iv. Gets Personal:- This is the fun part and absolutely important for being an effective
teacher! Get to know your students and their interests so that you can find ways to
connect with them. Don't forget to also tell them about yours! Also, it is important to
get to know their learning styles so that you can cater to each of them as an individual.
v. Gives 100%:- Whether you are delivering a lesson, writing report cards or offering
support to a colleague - give 100%.
vi. Stays Organized:- Never fall behind on the marking or filing of students' work. Try your
best to be on top of it and not let the pile grow past your head! It will save you a lot of
time in the long run. It is also important to keep an organized planner and plan ahead!
The likelihood of last minute lesson plans being effective are slim.
vii. Is Open-Minded:- As a teacher, there are going to be times where you will be observed
formally or informally (that's also why you should give 100% at all times). You are
constantly being evaluated and criticized by your boss, teachers, parents and even
children.
viii. Finds Inspiration:- An effective teacher is one who is creative but that doesn't mean
that you have to create everything from scratch! Find inspiration from as many sources
as you can.
ix. Embraces Change:- In life, things don't always go according to plan. This is particularly
true when it comes to teaching. Be flexible and go with the flow when change occurs.
An effective teacher does not complain about changes when a new principal arrives.

4. How can the Mentor help you?

 By giving you the chance to work with a role model:- If I feel that I know the kind of role
I am looking for, then having a mentor who’s either already in or who’s been in that
position before could be really useful to helping me get there. A role model mentor
could also be a great way to get specific support on a more short-term basis, such as a
project which stretches my skills, or the transition to a new job.
 By helping me to understand and focus on what it is I want:- A good mentor will have
my best interests in mind, and will help me to reflect on what I'm good at and the kind
of work I enjoy. They can also help me make a plan to get more of the things I enjoy into
my working life, give mrthe confidence to make chance
 By letting me benefit from someone else’s mistakes and successes:- My mentor will give
me the benefit of their experiences when they’ve faced up to similar challenges, sharing
what worked and what didn’t.
 By holding me to account:- There’s no easier promise to break than the ones we make
to ourselves – just look at the history of broken New Year resolutions for proof. Make
those commitments to somebody else though, and the incentive to follow through on
what you say you’ll do becomes a lot greater. Even if you’re the kind of person who

makes a point of always seeing the tasks you set yourself through to the end, your
mentor could challenge you to set your standards higher and to stretch yourself.
 By giving me both positive and constructive feedback:- A mentor should be honest,
objective and far enough from the situation to both help me see the things I'm doing
well, and recognise where I can improve. They may be able to see my problems from a
different perspective, and help me widen my own so that I come up with better
solutions.
 By letting me access a wider network:- I don’t recommend making this my primary
motivation in approaching a potential mento.
