Definitions
Here are some useful definitions to help you understand the fundamental design concepts
that drive the MONITOR xL™ line.
Area
Sometimes known as a partition or sector. In an industrial building, the offices might be
designated as one area, and the plant as the second area. MONITOR xL™ is based on
areas and all intrusion points, outputs and doors have to be assigned to one, or more,
areas. There are 16 areas available per panel.
Intrusion point
Intrusion or input points are the input devices used to feed information to the MONITOR
xL™ system. A typical intrusion point might be a door contact or PIR motion detector.
When the sensor is activated, MONITOR xL™ receives the information and uses it to
take the appropriate action (fire an output, such as an alarm, page somebody, dial the
central station, etc.). There are 256 inputs per panel.
Output
They are used to trigger or interface with other devices, based on a command from the
MONITOR xL™ panel. Typically, outputs trigger sirens, turn lights on or off, lower the
heat, etc. There are 128 outputs per panel.
Account
An account corresponds to the use of a single database to control one or more MONITOR
xL™ control panels so that they can share information such as users, schedules, authority
levels, etc. You may have up to 64,000 users on one account. Using the Enterprise
Director software, you may run as many accounts as you need (eg, if you are using the
system to run several condominium buildings with no common users).
The MONITOR xL™ system is a highly flexible system when it comes to installation and
it will suit any building or site.
There are two main installation configuration styles being used by installers: centralized
or distributed. The following examples are extreme illustrations of these styles. Most sites
will follow one general style, but have elements of the other.
Note: A site visit is crucial in determining which style you will use and how to quote the
MONITOR xL™ system.
Intrusion-Only Systems
Intrusion-only systems are typically distributed, which means that the LCD keypads,
point expanders, and wireless module devices will be mounted fairly close to the devices
they control (door/window sensors, PIR motion detectors, etc.)
This is used mainly in North America. The control panel and most of the modules
(particularly door controllers) are installed in a centrally located utility room. RS 485 bus
wire runs tend to be shorter, while module device wire runs are longer.
Note:
This is used mainly in Europe. The control panel will typically be in a centrally located
room, while the modules will be installed close to doors, windows, and other features that
are being controlled or protected. RS 485 bus wire runs tend to be longer, while module
device wire runs are shorter.
Advantages: Less expensive to wire as the RS 485 is run to where the modules are
and the wires to the sensors, readers or door strikes are short.
Disadvantages: More difficult to trouble shoot as the devices are further apart.
Power management is more expensive as devices are scattered
throughout the facility.
Mixing intrusion and access control will result in a hybrid of the above installation types.
Typically, in North America you will have centralized access control and distributed
intrusion modules. In Europe, all modules will be distributed.
The MONITOR xL™ system uses the same control panel for all applications.
The MONITOR xL™ hardware platform is based on a main control panel that can be
expanded through plug-in modular boards.

Entry Level and Prime target the small one-site intrusion and/or access
control market
The Entry level system is an intrusion-only platform that features 12 points on the
motherboard, and 4 additional points on the keypad, for a total of 16 points out of the
box. It also supports 300 users.
These can be expanded up to 256 points using point expanders, and you have a wide
choice of communications means, including PSTN, ISDN and TCP/IP. Supervised
subscriber terminal units (STU) are also available as plug-on modules.
With the addition of a Feature Expansion Board (FEB), the Entry level system can be
turned into an access control system. The system is designed for one-site applications
with a maximum of 256 inputs, 1,000 users and 16 doors of access control.
The Prime Director software package can be connected to both the Entry level system, or
to the Expanded Base system and will provide access to a single site. Prime can be
upgraded to Enterprise which provides additional features.
Prime systems can be remotely dialled up in order to diagnose the system, troubleshoot it,
and download or backup the user’s database. The remote connection also allows the
authorized user to configure the system and to remotely retrieve reports, system status
and other information.
All Entry level and expanded systems can be completely configured and managed using
the LCD keypad, even for access control applications. It can also be managed through the
Director software, which can be added at any time to the system. The Director software
also allows the user to generate detailed reports.
The Enterprise level uses the same hardware as that of the entry level and Prime systems
and can be easily upgraded.
Panels can be networked locally, via an RS485 connection (up to 30 panels). An external
modem can connect up to 60 panels to a remote site.
Enterprise can accommodate up to 15,380 inputs against 256 for Prime, 64,000 users (vs.
300 or 1,000 for Prime), and 1,920 doors (vs. 16 for Prime and none for entry level).
Because both systems share the same hardware, database and programming, upgrading
from Entry level to Prime to Enterprise is seamless and requires no hardware changes.
Upgrades can be effected at any time, regardless of the version or level you have
installed.
VEREX guarantees backward compatibility of its hardware with previous versions of the
INOVA family of door controllers. Please enquire with your local reseller for further
details.
All MONITOR ISM™ door controllers can be connected directly to the MONITOR xL™
platform. The new flash utility available in Director v 4.4 and onward allows you to
remotely manage all firmware versions, thereby eliminating any problems.
Our current upgrade packages feature the following existing door controllers (used with
our INOVA® PC, INOVA® Master for Windows and INOVA® Central Manager
systems):
• PDC controllers
• T2K controllers
• T10K controllers
• INOVA Plus
• C2000 and Point Mux
Please note that our older controllers worked at a lower data transmission speed than
MONITOR xL™. The new control panel automatically detects the speed at which
peripheral modules communicate and adapts the RS485’s bus speed to this. This means
that you can only control 10 modules of the older lines.
In the case of existing INOVA Plus single door controllers, a new MONITOR xL™
control panel will only control 10 doors, instead of 16 or 32 (Prime or Enterprise). The
limit is 20 doors with T2K or T10K units. To control additional doors, simply add
more MONITOR xL™ control panels.
We also strive to provide you with equipment to update or recuperate as much as possible
from our older product systems, such as the 7900 or Prism+. The RS485 repeater-
multiplexer allows you to reproduce one of our old Star Couplers and therefore reuse the
wiring already in place.
The MONITOR xL™ system consists of a control panel, and modules (including a
keypad). The system connects to a PCs RS 232 serial port directly or for longer distances
with a RS 485 adaptor or modem. The control panel’s on-board modem allows for direct
central station monitoring, as well as 4 to 12 pager outputs.
The MONITOR xL™ platform replaces the MONITOR ISM™ system. All modules and
peripheral devices, irrespective of their generation, can be used interchangeably with both
platforms.

This is the heart of the MONITOR xL™ system. The control panel consists of a
motherboard that runs the entire system and is housed in a metal cabinet with an onboard
power supply.
Depending upon your region and preferences, you will also have the option of adding in
modular plug-in boards.
Note: some boards may already included in the Control Panel packages (cf previous
section)
These modular boards allow you to communicate with external devices through
telephone lines (modems) or supervised interfaces.
This is a 300 baud modem for use in North America. This will enable an entry level
system to communicate via a PSTN line to a Central Station. Both the CID and SIA
protocols are supported. Please see the Communications section for more details.
The universal modem is a 2400 baud modem designed for use in every jurisdiction
around the world. It can be used to communicate alarms to a Central Station using the
CID or SIA protocols. It can also be used to dial up the panel for use with the Director
software.
You need the Features Expansion Board to expand the entry level intrusion-only system
into an access control with enhanced functionality, or to manage more than 300 users.
In addition to 16 doors of access control (32 in Enterprise), the Feature Expansion Board
also expands the number of users to 1,000. Please consult the RAM Expansion table for
further details.
The Features Expansion Board also carries the socket used to add extra memory to the xL

to be dedicated in most cases, and the MONITOR xL™ panel will function normally,
even if the Director software is shut down.
Please consult the software pick table for more details about the functionality embedded
in each version and package of the software.
NEW
Note: every software package now includes an RS485 converter for direct cable
connection from PC to panel. The RS232 interface is no longer available.
When you first install your Director software, you will be required to register it to
activate the key. The activation process requires that you use the Software Licence
Manager utility (see screen below) on a PC with an internet connection. The key can be
registered on a computer different from the PC that is used for control and configuration
of your system if this last system is not connected to the internet.
The licence manager screen will give you all relevant information concerning your
system, including your system level (Prime, Elite, Enterprise Elite) and any options you
may have purchased.
When you register the system, you create a record on our registration server and start the
clock on the Software Support Agreement (SSA) service. As long as your SSA is valid,
you may upgrade your software to the latest version released by VEREX Technology.
You may purchase SSA renewals that will give you an additional 12 months on your
SSA. Please make sure you order the right type for your system.
Important
Note: when you register your system for the first time you will need two pieces of
information: your DEALER CODE and DEALER PASSWORD. These will be provided to
you when you first register for business with VEREX.
The information stored on our server is kept strictly confidential according to our Privacy

V-Bus
V-Bus is an internal communication bus designed to work with xL series modules that
support it. It allows you to connect several expansion modules that will increase your xL
system’s capacity, as well as functionality.
The V-Bus is not intended for external use and must be used within a protected enclosure.
A number of V-Bus modules can be connected together within an enclosure. Please see
next section for further details.
• V-Bus modules communicate with the main controller using the Module Bus
(SNAPP) and with each other using the V-Bus.
• V-Bus modules allow the system to be expanded without adding modules on the
main Module Bus (SNAPP).
Point expanders
The MONITOR xL™ line now features two types of point expanders. These are used to
add extra inputs and outputs to the system beyond the first 12 points included on the main
control panel board.
The new I/O expanders feature a modular architecture, enabling you to build up any
combination of options you may need. You always start with a 16/2 expander in a metal
enclosure (120-3646), and then expand it with the optional boards. These boards are
connected to the 16/2 base board through the V-Bus connection illustrated below.
8 transistor
PCB VBus
The point expanders are used to add monitored input points (intrusion, fire or process
control) and output points to the MONITOR xL™ system beyond the 12 base input and 2
base relay output points on the panel’s motherboard.
The MONITOR xL™ main control panel provides power to the RS485 bus which is
sufficient to feed the first few modules, such as keypads or point expanders. However, for
larger systems or power-hungry detection devices powered by the bus, you may need to
add additional power supplies. The Intelligent Power Supply units (IPSU) are used to
provide this extra power. All units are fully addressable and are fully supervised by the
The intelligent power supply provides 1.4A at 12VDC of auxiliary power and is capable
of charging all batteries up to 24Ah. This power supply features remote diagnostic
functions, such as:
The IPSU cabinet can be expanded by adding up to two additional IPSU boards, or by
adding a 16/2 input expander board.
Please refer to the Power Management section for electrical load calculations,
A power pack is a pre-wired power supply mounted in a metal cabinet that allows you to
add more power to your MONITOR xL security system. The PowerPack provides 2.5 A
of auxiliary power to your system and can be connected anywhere on the RS 485 bus.
The small metal housing provides room for a 7 Ah battery.

between panels is limited to 3 000’ (1 000m). If you need to run your local network
further, you can use the RS485 to get additional 3 000’ (1 000m) increments.
In some cases, a site’s layout may force you to branch out in several directions. This
would be typical of a condominium or campus setting. In this case, you can use the
RS485 Star Coupler, which allows you to run the RS485 network over 5 or 10 branches
of 3 000’ (1 000m) each. This can also be used to reproduce the layout of our older
systems’ architecture, such as the 7900 or Prism+ systems.

The tables on the following pages will help you to quote appropriately the power
requirements of your MONITOR xL™ system.
The control panel and the different modules are powered by means of power supplies, which
are mounted internally in the panels (see picture), transformers, which take the commercial
electrical current (110V or 220V AC, depending where you are) and transform it to the 12V
or 16V that the power supplies require. Additionally, in case of power failure, you will need
batteries. The MONITOR xL™ panels have room in them to contain these accessories.
Sample calculations are included at the end of this section.

Other MONITOR xL modules
All MONITOR xL modules (with the exception of door controllers) get their power through
the RS 485 bus. The main control board provides 750mA of power. Please ensure that you
have provided adequate power for your system.
For power requirements, please consult the VEREX module data sheets.
This pertains to all systems using the 2-door controllers in small cabinets (eg, where the door
controller is installed locally above or near the doors)
Note: Door Controllers cannot be powered from the main panel bus and must be individually
powered.
Note: please note that the 120-8209 model includes a 220V transformer inside the cabinet.
This pertains only to systems using the large cabinet multiple doors (eg, centralized
installation with door controllers next to the control panel).

This section describes the communications between the MONITOR xL control panel and the
Director software, as well as the panel to a Central Station for alarm reporting.
Modem-based alarm reporting can be achieved either by means of the Bell 103 300 baud
modem (part # 120-3630) or the world-wide 2400 baud modem (part # 120-3633).
Please use the IP module (part # 120-8102). For a discussion on IP alarm monitoring, please
see discussion in the Modules section under IP interface board.
Director Communications
This is done by means of an RS 485 connector (100-2185), which is included with the
Director software and will allow you to connect to a PC up to 3,000’(1,000 m) away.
RS 485 converter
This is done by means of an RS 485 adapter (100-2185), which will allow you to connect to a
PC and the other panels as illustrated. Total length of the RS 485 bus is 3,000’ (1,000m).
The PC, which does not need to be dedicated in most cases, will carry the physical Director
USB key that licences your copy of the Director software.
The MONITOR xL™ platform now offers you a choice of modems based upon the package
that you have chosen (see Control Panel section)
Use the VEREX approved modem (100-5510) Communicate with the server using the Bell
to communicate with the modem boards, or 103 or World-wide modem boards, or an
the internal PC modem to communicate with optional VEREX approved external modem
the 100-5510 modem connected to the panel (100-5510).
The host PC running the MONITOR xL™ Director software can communicate with multiple
panels via dial-up connections. The remote panels must use the VEREX approved modem
(100-5510).
The simplest way to connect a panel to a LAN is using the IP module as illustrated:
Note: you can mix any type of communications modes and use concurrent dial-up, RS485
locally connected, and LAN/WAN connected panels.

Calculating Elevator Equipment Required
• 15 relay modules are equal to 8 relays /Module X 15 will equal 120 floors (relays). If all 30
relay modules are used, this would equal 8 times 30 which would equal 240 floors (relays).
• Because the capacity of one main control unit is 120 floors, it would be necessary to add a
second main control unit to accommodate all the floors. Multi-panel processing is achieved
through the Director Software.

Version 4.x features screens which have been redesigned from the ground up to organise the
information contained in these screens in a hierarchical fashion: the top tab will always
display the minimal information required to get a system up and running in a minimum
amount of time.
The more complex and feature-rich a system, the greater the challenge to programme it. The
MONITOR xL system features simple, graphical tools that will guide you intuitively through
your installation with ease and confidence.

Likewise, information about Central Station monitoring, LCD keypads and access control
systems are hidden.
This approach simplifies navigation and enhances user friendliness, thereby reducing
valuable set-up times.

Configuration Screens
The Director software has been designed with ease of use and programming in mind. Many
new features have been added based upon field trials and feedback from users across the
world.
To simplify cross-system data handling and mass changes, all screens can be viewed in either
form or grid view as illustrated below:
The Director now features advanced tools, allowing you to configure custom circuit types,
full remote diagnostics, or programme sophisticated automated commands.
Use these features to simplify installation and take-overs, turn off lights based on people
counts or timers (eg, no activity in system for last 30 minutes, etc.).
Wizards
Director is capable of highly complex functions, controlling thousands of points, doors, and
various communications media. Version 4.x now provides you with step-by-step intuitive
wizards which fill out meaningful default values in the system to ensure quick start-up times,
even for novice users.
The two main wizards concern overall system set-up and communications. Every effort has
been made to automate the process as much as possible by reading information off the key
(dongle) or the system itself. This information appears in blue and guides the user through
the programming and troubleshooting processes.
The Wizards use actual screens, which make it easier for the user to understand where they
are and what they are doing. The same screens and order are used in our technical training
courses.

You can use each one of these fields to then drive your reports to obtain highly pertinent
information from your system.

Enhanced Reports
The reports engine has been overhauled for version 4.x and now gives you four main
reporting categories.
Audit Reports
Use any of 9 main filters and 55 criteria to track any configuration made to the system.
You now have 24 filters at your disposal to track any combination of activity.
You can also output your reports to a variety of media, including export files to other
Microsoft Windows applications. You can also generate your own custom reports using the
custom report generator.
Visual Director offers you graphic maps in which you can organise customized views of your
system and interact with it in an intuitive manner.
Visual Director also allows you to integrate cameras from the VEREX NetVision digital
video platform.
Use the map creation tools to build your own views: simply drag and drop objects onto your
map (BMP and Windows Metafile are acceptable).
Cameras can be
viewed all the
time, or popped-

when an event
occurs Interactive maps
reflect real-time
status of system and
give you full control.
Then use the map builder to control the various objects: each interactive icon allows the user
to open/close doors, arm/disarm areas, check the status of individual points, verify Suite
Security module status or call up live video feeds from the NetVision system.
You can also trigger the NetVision system to automatically start recording video based on
access control, intrusion, fire or internal events. The event log will then add a camera icon to
indicate that there is an associated video clips(s) – see below.
Camera icon
indicates associated
video file.
The Visual Director interface is entirely configurable and lockable, based on operator log-in.
This gives you unsurpassed flexibility in designing the best screen for your application, while
controlling essential parameters like bandwidth consumption, image quality, and even the
amount of time allowed for a specific connection.
The events window now has a filter which allows users to sort and mask event information
based on the criteria that affects them. This screen also prompts the user to acknowledge
alarms, if this is required, and will not hide the event until resolution has been effected.
All events (208 different types are available) can be given a priority level (5000 levels are
available) that will then be used in the events filter. Further, each event type can be colour
coded (user defined) and a distinctive sound can be associated to specific events (WAV
files). This allows you to set up a truly interactive guard station operation.
This feature allows you to pop up the picture of any given user on your screen based upon an
access control event (access granted, denied, invalid card, etc.). In conjunction with pop-up
cameras you can create a virtual guard station, where a centrally located guard can supervise
and check several access points. A live view of the person entering can be instantaneously
compared with that person’s ID picture for as many points as needed.
All versions of the Director software are licensed using a hardware key as follows:
This key must be present on the server PC when used in a networked Director configuration.
The key is shipped with a 90 day validity period and must be registered using our internet-
based licence manager.
Any version or option can be upgraded to the next level(s) on-line with the USB key.
The following table lists all of the options available in the various Version 4.x software
packages:
VISUAL DIRECTOR
Visual Director makes use of interactive maps with integrated video from NetVision.
Using Visual Director, an operator is able to fully control and check the status of the
system using various map views. Visual Director is a standard feature offered in
Enterprise and Enterprise Elite versions of the software.
Database Views
This feature in Director gives the operator the ability to write custom reports. All
configuration and event data is provided to the operator. The operator is then able to
“view” and extract the information that is required.
"Database Views" is a standard feature offered in the Enterprise Elite version of the
software.
SQL SUPPORT
Director can be installed on a customer’s managed (IT Department) SQL server. This
facilitates central database maintenance such as backups and security.
The ability to install the Director software on such a network is a standard feature offered
in the Enterprise Elite version of the software.
Notes: This has been referred to as the “Open Database” option which has caused some
confusion. This feature does NOT include the Microsoft SQL Server software or
associated licensing. Rather, it is intended to work with SQL server software/licensing
that you already own, or have purchased separately. Database views and SQL server
support is indicated as "Database Query" in the license manager program.
PHOTO-BADGING
The Photo Integration Package expands the MONITOR xL™ product to include
extensive photo badging capabilities. This package allows for capturing photos, badge
design, and printing on any Windows ® compatible printer.
CLIENT/SERVER DEPLOYMENT
Often, it is a requirement of IT departments that the application software be able to
support a client/server environment. The ability to install the Director software on such a
network is available in the Enterprise and Enterprise Elite software versions.
ERM CAPABILITY
Sometimes there is a requirement to have Director linked to a Human Resource database.
This allows the customer to have a single point of data entry for all users. An application
such as this will require additional software linking the Human Resource system with
Director. This software is typically developed by the customer. This functionality is
available as an option to the Enterprise Elite version of the software.
Please note that the functionality supported concerns the Control & Status, and Reports
sections of the Director software. No configuration can be done through the interface.

Central Station
Wire 8 door contacts directly onto the contacts on the motherboard. Wire the remaining
door/window contacts to the 16-point expanders, as well as the PIRs.
You will need to run an RS485 bus to connect the LCD keypads and point expanders.
The system is armed and configured by means of the LCD keypad. Central station
monitoring is effected through the included on-board Bell 103 modem.
This is a variation on the basic intrusion system where we are simply adding a wireless
receiver module, wireless contacts, and panic buttons. You can add this variation to any of
the intrusion or access control systems.
Site Specifications
The customer has a remote reception area that is open late and is subject to a higher than
normal security risk. It would be very expensive to wire this remote reception area using
conventional methods. The reception also requires a glass-break detector to protect the glass
front door.
Solution
Simply connect the wireless receiver to the RS485 bus. The wireless receiver automatically
enrols the panic buttons when these are activated for the first time. The buttons (as any other
battery-operated device) should be tested regularly.
Site Specification
The customer has offices in downtown city A, a warehouse in the suburbs of A2, as well as
sales offices and warehouses in cities B and C. Each location needs to report to a local central
monitoring station. All locations have 32 intrusion points each.
Solution
Simply install the four systems in each location and connect them to a telephone line via the
on-board Bell 103 modem. None of the systems require a computer in order to run them.
Install each one of the four systems in each office or warehouse. Connect each one to a
telephone line for central station monitoring.
Install the Director software in the downtown office in A via the RS 485 connection.
Note: any networked solution requires a PC and the Enterprise version.
Site Specifications
The customer has a single office with one entrance. There are 25 employees altogether. There
are no intrusion points.
Solution
Note: for a single site (Prime), you can control and programme the system
using a simple LCD keypad.
Site Specifications
The customer has a single office with one entrance. There are 25 employees altogether. There
are 32 intrusion points.
Solution
This system is identical to the previous example. We have simply added a 16 point expander
module. 12 intrusion points are connected to the panel’s motherboard, 4 are connected to the
LCD keypad and 16 are connected to the point expander.
We start from the previous example, where we bought the following equipment:
1 control panel with Feature Expansion Board and modem board of your choice
1 LCD keypad white 120-3610W
1 2-door controller (small cabinet) 120-8206 or 120-8209
1 switchplate arming station G-Prox II 120-8230G
1 package of 25 G-Prox II cards, programmed 36 bit 120-2062
1 16-point expander 120-3646
Site Specifications
In addition to the first site that we installed (1 exit, 25 employees, 32 intrusion points), the
customer now has a second site with 40 employees, 1 door and 32 intrusion points.
Solution
First of all, you will need to install the Director Enterprise software so that you can network
the original site with the second site. Add one modem board of your choice at the original
site. You will then need:
1 control panel with Feature Expansion Board and modem board of your choice
1 LCD keypad white 120-3610W
1 2-door controller (small cabinet) 120-8206 or 120-8209
1 switchplate arming station G-Prox II 120-8230G
2 packages of 25 G-Prox II cards, programmed 36 bit 120-2062
1 16-point expander 120-3646
The architecture is identical to the previous examples. The components are as follows:
1 control panel with Feature Expansion Board and modem board of your choice
1 Director Enterprise software, 120-8605
1 2-door controller (small cabinet) 120-8206 or 120-8209
1 switchplate arming station G-Prox II reader 120-8230G
1 package of 25 G-Prox II cards, programmed 36 bit 120-2062
1 16-point expander 120-3646
1 control panel with Feature Expansion Board and modem board of your choice
1 LCD keypad, white120-3610W
1 2-door controller (small cabinet) 120-8206 or 120-8209
1 switchplate arming station G-Prox II 120-8230G
2 packages of 25 G-Prox II cards, programmed 36 bit 120-2062
1 16-point expander 120-3646
These applications are actually already included in any of the previous examples, since any
MONITOR xL™ will generate time and attendance reports.
The simplest configuration consists of installing a 2-door controller and 2 readers. Instead of
using the 2-door controller to control a door, use the 2 readers as in and out readers on door 1
and label the readers “TIME IN” and “TIME OUT”. The employees will thus use their card
at the beginning of the shift to punch in at “TIME IN”, and punch out by presenting their
card to the “TIME OUT” reader.
The same can be done to control a machine in a tool shop, in which case the operator’s time
on the machine is measured. Simply assign cards to a job number, instead of a user.
Time and attendance for office employees can also be measured, provided you plan for
adequate flow control (eg, make sure that employees DO badge in and out whenever they go
in or out).
MONITOR xL™ has pre-configured reports such as: all employees who entered after xx:00
(late arrival report), all employees who stayed after yy:00 (over-time report), attendance of a
specific user, movement at a specific door, and many more.
This application is a specific report that will tell you who is specifically in at a given area at
any point in time. For instance, you designate areas 2 and 3 as mine shafts 2 and 3. If there is
a problem in mineshaft 2 (a gallery collapses, flood, etc.), you can instantaneously obtain a
report about who is in the area (roll call) to help rescue efforts.
This is a specific application using the Suite Security Module. Up to 60 Suite Security
modules can be installed on one MONITOR xL™ control panel. You will need the Enterprise
version of the software to use these modules.
Suite Security modules connect to the RS 485 bus like any other modules and the same
distance and wiring rules apply to these modules. The rule of thumb for suite security
modules is that 5 modules take up the space of one regular module.
The following table allows you to calculate how many modules you can use per panel in
combination with other modules:
We feature two types of suite security modules, a 2 zone model and an 8 zone model:
The 2 zone module is an economical alternative destined for simple security management in
an apartment, while the 8 zone module will cover a larger suite.
Guard tours are integrated into the Director software. Please consult the User’s Manual for
full details.
These commands would be typically used for basic programming logic, such as
arming/disarming a system when a counter reaches a specified value, or switching off the air
conditioning based on a set of defined conditions.
MONITOR xL™ can track users in and out of the premises and you can find out, area by
area, who is in.
MONITOR xL™ allows you to send pager or SMS text messages based upon events in the
system. The events are selected with the events prioritisation tool.
