1. OBJECTIVE
SGS TECNOS, S.A.U., issues the following Technical Report, for the purpose of providing ADERCO with
the services of reviewing the “ADERCO V35 Additive Fuel Efficiency Trial - Final Report” and the GHG
emissions reduction from the use of V35 Additive (‘’Aderco positive impacts report’’).
The primary purpose of the trial is to review the fuel consumption reductions that can be achieved by using
ADERCO’s V35 additive and the emissions reduction associated with it.
It has been evaluated if the conclusions of the study are correct, that is, validate:

Regarding the methodological approach indicated in the ‘’ADERCO V35 Additive Fuel Efficiency Trial - Final
Report’’ (November 19, 2020), the following considerations have been taken into account:
- Fuel consumption was measured directly by way of high precision fuel measurement equipment
while operational intensity and productivity were characterized in terms payload, distance, vertical
travel, and time.
- All trucks in the trial were first measured under a uniform configuration to establish a baseline (with
and without ADERCO V35 Additive).
- Fuel consumption is computed as the difference between the total flow measurements reported by
the feed and return meters. Therefore, the accuracy of the consumption measurements is
dependent on the amount of fuel consumed relative to the injector bypass rate (fuel fed to the
engine and returned to the tank).
- The distance travelled over ground, gross vertical travel, GPS coordinates, the haul cycle duration,
and the air ingress were also considered.
1. Vehicle Distance
2. Loaded Distance
3. Altitude
4. Payload
5. Gross Vertical Meters
6. Vertical Ton Meters
The data was filtered to remove observations that did not reflect typical operations on site in order
to reduce both errors and erroneous observations associated to the data collection. This was
done in two phases.
The first one shows the following exclusions to remove erroneous data using the following criteria
for haul cycles:
SGS Tecnos SA
Calle Trespaderne, 29
28042 - Madrid
Ref: 02-911-340508
The second phase of data processing involved the removal of data with unusually high or low
values for the following variables:
o Consumption
o Engine Hours
o Distance
o Payload
o Consumption per Distance
Over the course of the trial described in ‘’ADERCO V35 Additive Fuel Efficiency Trial - Final
Report’’ (November 2020), the predicted efficiency improvement associated with the V35 additive
is depicted below for the direct comparisons of consumption, as well as several models:
Figure 1. “Model predictions and sensitivities” from ADERCO V35 Additive Fuel Efficiency Trial - Final
Report’’ (November 2020), Figure 4.
Considering previous information, the report “ADERCO V35 Additive Fuel Efficiency Trial - Final Report”
(November 2020) contains the following conclusions:
- The overall efficiency attributable to the additive is 5.1%, considering the exclusions made with
outlined data indicated in the report.

- The data included in all models discussed in this section and the resulting prediction for the
impact of the V35 additive are shown in the table below, with the recommended value highlighted
in bold.

efficiency improvement attributable to the V35 additive” from ADERCO V35 Additive Fuel Efficiency Trial -

3. EMISSIONS REDUCTION
Based on the previous 5.1% efficiency in relation to fuel savings, ADERCO has made a series of
calculations to estimate the reduction in CO2 emissions that would result from the use of this additive in
truck fuel. Those calculations are included in the ‘’Aderco positive impacts report’’.
For this purpose, the following methodology for the CO2 emissions calculated was:
1. Determining the mass of fuel consumed (N)
2. Calculating energy consumption according to fuel net specific energy
3. Calculating carbon potential emissions according to energy consumption & carbon emission
factors
4. Calculating oxidized carbon according to oxidation factors
5. Converting oxidized carbon into CO2 emissions
Using this methodology, ADERCO calculated in the ‘’Aderco positive impacts report’’ the emissions
associated with a consumption of 20 tons of fuel, with and without the usage of the V35 additive.
A) Without ADERCO V35 usage: The combustion 20 tons of diesel resulted in 62,77 tons of CO2.
B) With ADERCO V35 usage: Using V35 additive there is a consumption of 18,98 tons of fuel
(caused by its 5,1% efficiency in fuel savings compared to the 20 tons consumed without the
additive). The combustion of 18,98 tons of diesel resulted in 59,62 tons of CO2.
The results show a reduction in emissions of 3.33 tons of CO2 per liter of V35 additive used given the
reduction in the amount of fuel needed by the trucks studied.

4. DATA VALIDATION
The methodology used by SGS to validate the results and data collected for both Fuel Savings and
Efficiency and Emission Reduction consisted of a review of the following reports:
• ''ADERCO V35 Additive Fuel Efficiency Trial - Final Report'' for Fuel Savings and Efficiency.
• ‘’Aderco positive impacts report'' for Emission Reduction, including the sources from which the
different calculation factors are derived.
In the review of both reports, the validation of the primary data has not been taken into account, but rather
the methodology used, the final data and the conclusions drawn.
Based on these aspects, SGS has been able to draw its conclusions for Fuel Saving and Efficiency and
Emissions Reduction.

5. SGS’s REVIEW
Given the review carried out of the “ADERCO V35 Additive Fuel Efficiency Trial - Final Report’’ (November
2020) and only the results included in it, SGS TECNOS, S.A.U. can conclude that:
- The efficiency and the conclusions drawn in the “ADERCO V35 Additive Fuel Efficiency Trial -
Final Report” (November 2020) associated with the use of the V35 additive (5,1%) are consistent
and appropriate based on the methodology, characteristics of the trial conducted, the factors
considered and the data processing.
- The exclusions indicated in the report are in accordance with the methodology used.
Given the review carried out of the ‘’Aderco positive impacts report’’ and the conclusions and results
included in it, SGS TECNOS, S.A.U. can conclude that:
- The factors used for the net specific energy, the carbon emission factors for diesel and the
oxidation factors for fuel oil are in accordance with the references used.
- The calculations established for the calculation of emissions (with and without the use of the
additive) are logical and consistent.
- The emission reductions associated with the use of the additive (3.33 tons of CO2 per liter of V35
additive) are in accordance with the methodology used and the calculations performed.
