The first line that for me has a powerful impact is like a call to all its listeners to be proud of being Filipino. Proud enough to let the other race and countries know that we exist and can match them. Even though we admire them, which is not wrong, we should also be confident that whatever we aspire to in life we’ll be able to achieve it by thinking we can achieve it. But this doesn’t mean that we have to be rude or snob with other nationalities because they’re not Filipinos. There is no better race than another, so just be happy about who you are while still showing respect for others. And the second line of words that I find to have a powerful impact in this song tells us to respect our mother and father for they are the reason that we are here and alive. Be grateful that you have them and that, in spite of their flaws, we must continue to love them in a way that is as unconditional as their love for us. They only want the best for us, so we must heed their advice, especially while we are still young. For some reason, though, perhaps we can choose not to obey them if we are mature enough and of an age to make our own. It is said that giving a piece of advice is not giving a command. Advice is just that, an advice – it can be followed or not. Point is, if the advice is in-line with your beliefs, principles, or views and there’s nothing wrong with it, and after weighing other options (other advices) and it seems to be the most logical, then by all means follow the advice of your father. And if you have siblings, you must love one another and stick with each other despite of your small fights because, at the end of the day, they will always be your only best friend and part of your family.
