1. INTRODUCTION:
This method statement describes the sequence and methods to be adopted for the site
excavation works for "Surfactant Detergent Plant Jubail - 2 KSA".
2. PURPOSE:
This Method Statement is applicable to site excavation placement backfill materials
compaction activities. and testing of all fill materials for structures, roadways and
embankments underground utility services, and general earthworks for the construction of
the project "Surfactant Detergent Plant Jubail - 2 KSA". All works shall be conducted in
conformance with relevant project drawings/ specifications, and good industry practices.

• Protect yourself and the casualty from any danger. You should always protect
yourself first and only move the casualty if leaving them would cause more harm. If
you are unable to make an area safe, call 999 for emergency help.
• Prevent infection between you and them. You should wash your hands or use hand
sanitizer, wear disposable gloves, and not cough or sneeze over a casualty.
• Assess the casualty. If there are multiple casualties, you must help those with life-
threatening injuries or conditions first.
• Give first aid treatment, such as CPR or applying pressure to bleeding wounds. Life-
threatening injuries and conditions must be prioritized before giving treatment to
less serious cases.

• Surplus materials will be stockpiled separately and will be hauked away from the
project to the area designated by the authority.
• All exixsting utilities will be protected to avoid damaged during the excavation
operation.
• When ever the excavation will be done near the underground pipes, manual
excavation shall be done ensuring to protect the pipes from damage.
• Adequate support to the excavations more than 1.5m will be done to avoid accident
to personnel and equipment if deemed necessary.
• Trenching shall be done as shallow as practicable as shown in the drawings to attain
the required slope (if required),
• The final excavated grade shall be accomplished by thin cuts with suitable
earthmoving equipment or by manual to attan the required level mentioned in the
drawing.
• The final level and prepared surfaces at the bottom of excavation shall be checked
by the surveyor and verified by the QC Engineer before submitting an inspection
request to a consultant.
• The contractor shall submit an inspection request to verify the final excavated level
and coordinates of the area for structures prior to proceed further works.
8. SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
• All the safe practices will be adopted during the excavation works.
• Special work permits, wherever required, shall be obtained before commencing work.
• All necessary personal protective equipment must be used such as a Hard hat,
Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Safety Shoes, PPE clothing & Gloves.
• Full body harness shall be provided for the labors on working platforms above 2m in
height.
• Proper access for the labor and equipment shall be provided for the works.
• All machinery shall be checked for maintenance records.
• The site shall be cleaned from the debris, steel waste, nails, etc

• Traffic Management Plan to be submitted before the start of work.
9. HOUSEKEEPING:
• Housekeeping of Concrete works wilbe done in accordance with the Project Safety
Requirements.
11. RECORDS:
• QC Engineer will record the results of test (if required). If the result of the test is
acceptable, designated QC Engineer and Client's representative must attend the test
and sign.
• Record log (if required) shall be maintained by UIPS and Log shall be shared to
Consultant on weekly basis.
12. DISTRIBUTION:
Copies of this Method Statement shall be circulated to the following for Information & action.

• Site Engineer.
• QC Inspector.
• HSE officer.
• General Foreman.
