The input and output baud rates are able to be set to 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600,
19200, 38400, 57600, or 115200 by dip switch selection.
Through the OTA application, the 2N14MX hardware can be programmed to use
different hardware functions.

2 NMEA buffer mode setup
In the NMEA buffer mode, the DIP switch number 1 should place in the OFF
position and the four jumpers are set to the NORMAL marked side. Ref Image 1.
It is required to select the jumper set along with the DIP switch 1 to operate the
NMEA buffer mode and NMEA multiplexer mode in the proper way.
As shown in image 2, all of the jumpers should be placed in the NORMAL marked
position while the system is used in the NMEA buffer mode.

2 Input 14 Output data buffer for NMEA 0183 data distribution The 2N14MX has
two inputs are featured to allow for auto-changeover ensuring seamless
operation in the event of primary data loss.
2 x NMEA Input Port (Ch1 takes priority, auto switch to Ch2 if Ch1 lost)
14 x Output Ports Up to 115,200 baud rates
The USB port baud rate will be the same as the port 2 baud rate.

3 Baud rate selection
3.1 DIP switch numbers 3,4,5 are for the input NMEA baud rate selection and
DIP switch numbers 5,6,7 are for the output NMEA baud rate selection. Refer to
Figure 4. The 2N14MX can be used as a baud rate converter across the range of
1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, 38400, 57600, and 115200 by setting up input
and output baud rate DIP switches.
The baud rate can be set by referring to the input and output baud rate tables.
power cycle or press the reset switch on the device when a change in the dip
switch selection is applied.

4 NMEA multiplexer mode setup
In the NMEA multiplexer mode, the DIP switch number 1 should place in the ON
position and the four jumpers are set to the MUX marked side. Ref Image 5.
It is required to select the jumper set along with the DIP switch 1 to operate the
NMEA buffer mode and NMEA multiplexer mode in the proper way.
As shown in image 5, all of the jumpers should be placed in the MUX marked
position while the system is used in the NMEA multiplexer mode.

6 Technical specifications
6.1 Protection
The system is designed to prevent reverse polarity protection, and PTC self-
resettable fuse protection is included.
6.2 Isolation
The system is designed with DC input power isolation and opto-isolation for input
channels. The driver outputs utilize 3-state circuitry to provide high-impedance
states at any pair of differential outputs when the appropriate output enable is at
a low logic level. Internal circuitry is provided to ensure a high-impedance state at
the differential outputs during power-up and power-down transition times,
providing the output enable is low.
