Engineering Graphics & Design (CE 101)

Projection of points and Straight lines

Answer all the following questions

1. Draw the projection of the following points on the same ground line keeping the projectors
30 mm
a) 40 mm above H.P and 35 mm in front of V.P
b) 40 mm below H.P and 30 mm behind V.P
c) 25 mm above H.P and 35 mm behind V.P
d) 40 mm below H.P and 30 mm in front of V.P
e) on the H.P and 40 mm in front of V.P
f) on the V.P and 35 mm above H.P
g) on the H.P and 20 mm behind V.P
h) on the V.P and 25 mm below H.P
i) on the ground line
2. Write the position of the points with reference to H.P and V.P and the mention their angular
projection with the reference to the figure.

Fig. 2.1
3. AB is 65 mm long line parallel to V.P and perpendicular to H.P. The end A of the line is 30
mm in front of V.P and 10 mm above H.P. Draw its projections.

4. PQ is a 60 mm long line parallel to H.P and perpendicular to V.P. One end of the line is 15
mm behind of V.P and15mm below H.P Draw its projections.

5. A 60 mm long line PQ is parallel to V.P and inclined at 30 degree to H.P. The end Q is 80 mm
below H.P and 30 mm behind V.P Draw its projections.

6. The end C of a line CD is 15 mm above H.P and 30 mm in front of V.P while the end D is
55mm above H.P and 30 mm in front of V.P. The distance between the end projectors is 60
mm. Find the length of the line and its inclination with H.P.

7. A-line PQ 70 mm long has one end 15mm above HP and 30mm in front of VP. The line is
inclined at 35 degree to HP and 45 degree to VP. Draw the projections of the line.

8. A-line AB has its end A 15 mm above HP and 10mm in front of VP. The end B is 55mm
above HP and the line is inclined at 30 degree to HP. The distance between the end projectors
of the line, is 50mm. Draw the projections and find its inclination with VP.

9. A line AB, 65 mm long has its end A 20 mm above the H.P. and 25 mm in front of the V.P.
The end B is 40 mm above the H.P. and 65 mm in front of the V.P Draw the projections of AB
and show its inclinations with the H.P. and the V.P.

10. The top view of a 75 mm long line AB measures 65 mm, while the length of its front view is
50 mm. It’s one end A is in the H.P. and 12 mm in behind the V.P. Draw the projections of AB
and determine its inclinations with the H.P. and the V.P.

11. A 70 mm long line AB is inclined at 30 degree to HP and parallel to VP. The end A of the line
is 20 mm in front of VP and 30 mm above HP. Draw its projection and locate its horizontal
trace (HT) and vertical trace (VT).

12. A 65 mm long line PQ is inclined at 45 degree to VP and parallel to HP. The end A of the line
is 30 mm in front of VP and 20 mm above HP. Draw its projection and locate its horizontal
trace (HT) and vertical trace (VT).

13. Find the traces of all the problems from Q No 1 to 4 for straight lines inclined to both the
planes.

14. H.T of a 75 mm long line PQ is 20 mm in front of VP. It is inclined at 30 degree to HP and its
top view is inclined at 45 degree to VP. The end P 15 mm above HP and. Draw the projection
of the line
