1. Aim: Create an Android-based application using widgets. It can be embedded in other


applications (such as the home screen) and receive periodic updates.

2. Objective: The objective is to develop an Android application featuring


customizable widgets that can be embedded in diverse applications, including the home
screen. The application should seamlessly receive periodic updates, ensuring real-time
information and enhanced user interaction.
3. Input/Apparatus Used:
Input:
 Computer: Android Studio is compatible with Windows, macOS, and Linux. Ensure
that your computer meets the minimum system requirements for the chosen
operating system.
 Internet Connection: A reliable internet connection is required to download Android
Studio and the necessary SDK components during the installation process.
Apparatus:
 Android Studio Application: An "Android Studio Application" is a project in
Android Studio for developing Android apps with code, resources, and visual design
tools.
 Computer Mouse, Keyboard and Monitor/Display: Use a mouse and keyboard to
interact with the Application, configure settings, and navigate through Android
Studio. Android Studio requires a monitor or display to visualize the development
process and subsequently to develop and test Android applications.
 Storage Space: Ensure sufficient free storage space on your computer to
accommodate the Android Studio Application and any additional SDK components
you may download.
4. Procedure:

 Open the Android application and select the project you are working on then click on
the file option , then click new and the menu will appear.

 Then select the widget option from the menu.

 Now make specify the properties for the widget and then click finish.

 Then tap and hold on the screen of the running device a pop-up appears.

 On the appeard pop-up click the widget option and you will see the widget name in
the list

 Then drag and drop the widget on the home screen of the simulated screen.

5. Observations / Outcomes
 Widget becomes interactive: Allows user engagement through clicks on elements.
 TextView click triggers activity: Opens specified activity upon interaction.
 Enhanced user experience: Adds functionality beyond static display.
 Promotes app usage: Encourages user interaction within widget interface.
 Improved user engagement metrics: Measures interactions for analytics tracking.
