MATH 7 – 1st Quarter

Objectives:

a) Writes number in scientific notation and vice versa

b) Represents real - life situations which involves real numbers

c) Solve problems involving real numbers

PERFORMANCE TASK

Scenario:

Your group will be tasked with creating an educational poster about distances in the solar system using scientific
notation.

INSTRUCTION : Each group will research the distance from Earth to various celestial bodies ( Example: Moon , Jupiter
and Sun etc..) in kilometers. Next is convert these distances to scientific notation. And last create a poster that displays
the distances both in standard form and scientific notation , along with visuals of the celestial bodies.

Steps:

i. Divide the research tasks among group members to find accurate distances.

ii. Convert each distance to scientific notation.

iii. Design and compile the poster , ensuring it is visually appealing and informative.

iv. Present the poster to the class and explain the importance of using scientific notation.

MATH 7 – 2nd Quarter

Objectives:

a) Solve problems involving algebraic expressions.

b) differentiate between algebraic expression and equations

c) translate English sentences to mathematical sentences and vice versa

PERFORMANCE TASK

INSTRUCTION : Divide the class into groups of 4-5 students each. Assign roles within the group ( Example :
leader ,researcher, presenter and writer ). They will work through the given problems step - by - step. Translate the
provided mathematical sentences into clear, concise English sentences. Convert given English sentences into appropriate
algebraic expressions or equation. And last organize the findings and solution into a logical format, create visual aids to
support your presentation and also practice the presentation as a group to ensure smooth delivery.

Steps:

i. Ensure a mix of skills within each group to promote peer learning.

ii. Each group will be given a set of problems to solve , group will need to explain the steps taken to solve each
expression / equation. Groups will receive mathematical sentences translate into English and vice versa.

iii. Groups will research and review relevant mathematical concepts.

iv. Group will present their work in the class , participation is a must , includes visual aids ( slides , posters ) it
encourage to enhance understanding.
