TYPES OF COMMUNICATION

(1) Verbal communication


(2) Non-verbal communication

VERBAL COMMUNICATION: This is the communication with the use of words and language, to
communicate message to other party.

It can be performed in two ways and that is:

Oral communication and written communication

ORAL COMMUNICATION: Is communication through spoken words that is face to face, voice chart ,
video conferencing or telephone conversation.

WRITTEN COMMUNICATION: Is a communication through letters, reports, emails, smses, social media
etc to interact with people

NON-VERBAL COMMUNICATION: Is a process of communication without the use of word(wordless)


example of non verbal communication, facial expressions,body language, gestures, posture, nodding of
head, physical appearance etc.

TYPES OF NON-VERBAL COMMUNICATION

(1) Kinesics
(2) Artifacts
(3) Proxemics
(4) Chronemics
(5) Vocalics
(6) Haptics

KINESICS: Is the communication through body language, facial expression, gestures, postures, eye
contacts etc

ARTIFACTS: You learn how the appearance of a person speak a lot about his/her personality

PROXEMICS: The distance maintained by a person when communicating with another person tells you a
lot about their relationship

CHRONEMICS: Is the use of time in communication. It tells you about how punctual or displined a person
is ,or how serious a person is regarding the matter.

VOCALICS:The volume, tone of voice and the pitch by the sender to transmit information.

HAPTICS: The use of touching communication to express emotions, feelings, comfort, empathy,
sympathy etc.
