DIRECT

VARIATION
Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the student should be able to

1. Illustrate situations that involve direct variation.

2. Identify the equation that involve direct variation.

3. Solve problems involving direct variation using y=kx

as the mathematical equation of direct variation,
where k is a constant variation.

4. Appreciate the concept of direct variation in real-

life situations.
Direct Variation
Direct variation is a relation between
two quantities in which an increase in
one quantity produces an increase in
another quantity and that their ratio
remains the same.
Direct Variation
If two variables change such that the ratio of
one over the corresponding value of the other
is constant then the relation between these
two variables is called a direct linear variation.
