Mini Project Guidelines & Suggested Topics
Mini Project Guidelines & Suggested Topics
o Choose a topic based on the concepts of Internet of Things (IoT), the topic may be
selected from the list (on next page), or any other related topic.
o The project can be implemented using physical devices and any microcontroller
board, or using emulation/ simulation (if the physical devices are not available).
o Each group comprises of TWO students only, who should work on one project.
o Marks Distribution:
Project Design, circuit diagrams, coding to implement the devices, and overall
working with output, carries 10 Marks.
The project presentation / demonstration carries 5 Marks.
Project Report carries 5 Marks, and must contain the following topics:
Project Introduction
Project Scope
Project Design/ Circuit diagrams
Programming/Coding
Output/Simulation Screenshots.
o The deadline for submission and presentation/ demonstration will be in the 10th
week.
List of IoT Projects
Track and analyse water quality parameters such as pH, turbidity, and dissolved
oxygen.
2. Smart Trash Bin with Fill Level Indicator and Notification System
Use sensors to detect the fill level of waste bins and send notifications for timely
disposal.
Build a wearable IoT device for tracking vital signs (heart rate, temperature,
oxygen levels) and transmitting data to the cloud.
Monitor livestock's health and activity in real-time, useful for agriculture or pet
care industries.
Monitor environmental conditions such as wind speed, rainfall, and solar intensity
using sustainable energy.
Develop a smart mirror that can display notifications, weather updates, and has
voice-activated controls.
Use sensors to monitor available parking spaces in real-time and provide guidance
via a mobile app.
Create a personal assistant using voice commands, integrating various IoT devices
like lights, thermostat, etc.
Build a system to monitor fire hazards and gas leaks and send alerts to the user’s
phone in case of emergencies.
Use Wi-Fi or BLE beacons to develop a system for indoor navigation or asset
tracking.
Develop a bike lock system that is controlled via an app and includes GPS
tracking to prevent theft.
Monitor and analyze sleep patterns using sensors, and provide insights for better
rest.
Create a system to monitor and optimize solar energy usage for homes or
businesses.
Use RFID or barcode scanning to track inventory levels and manage stock in real-
time.
Use sensors to monitor traffic flow and optimize traffic light timings to reduce
congestion.
Build a fitness system that tracks physical activity, provides workout suggestions,
and monitors progress.
Monitor and report the status of urban infrastructure like roads, bridges, or
pipelines using IoT sensors.
