During June holidys, I was browsing through the internet and I saw a video of someone hiking in

Bukit Timah Nature Reserve park.

In that particular video it seems pretty fun and interesting, so I texted my friend and asked if he

was interested to go on a hike with me. As i was waiting for his reply, I went on to the internet to

do planning on the route we were taking. "Ting!!" a notification sounded in my phone and my

friend replied with a "yes" so we both planned to go on a hike the next day.

The next day, my friend and i met at Tiong Bahru MRT station and begin our way to Bukit Timah

Nature reserve Park. At the park we did some stretches and begin our four kilometre hike. At

the beginning, the route of the hike was going as planned and we were both taking picture and

posting them online not knowing that the worst is about to come.

Halfway through the hike, my phone died as i was checking on the route that we were supposed

to be following and I thought that I would know the way since i planned the hike but no, I was

following the map on my phone and that was the only way to get ourselves out of the trail. My

friend found out that we are going to get lost some where and we both paniced. The both of us

started reversing and going back where we begin which was the starting point.

After walking for 30 minutes, we were still lost and we did not know the way out. As we were

very tired and lost, I suggested at we should rest at the side walk. After resting for 15 minutes, I

thought of an idea which is to continue walking until we see someone so that the person can tell
us the way out or allow us to hike with them usil we reach an exit point. Later on, we saw a man

and his daughter hiking we went to them and askedhim for the way out. He gave us directions

and told us it will be a shorter way to get to the exit point. we thank the man and quickly hiked

our way there

After hiking for a while, we finally saw the sign board pointing to the exit and the bus stop. We

slowed down the hike for abit as we both felt relieved, and headed our way to the bus stop

where we boarded the bus home. At the end of the day I still had an amazing experience

despite getting lost in the middle of nowhere.

Everyone has their favourite time of the year, For me, it is Chinese New Year. Chinese New

Year is my favourite time if the year bacause i get to see and bond with my relatives and enjoy

the Chinese New Year snacks. I usually spent Chinese New Year with my family and

grandparents.

Before Chinese New Year, me and my family will do our annual spring cleaning and buy

groceries for our renuion dinner. On the eve of Chinese New Year, we will prepare the

ingredients needed for the renuion dinner. After preparing the ingredients, we will have our

renuion dinner where we will eat steamboat.

On the first day of Chinese New Year, me and my family will visit my grandparent's house. Me

and my sister would give our grandparent's madrian oranges while saying things like: I wish you

good health and happy Chinese New Year. On the second and third day of Chnese New Year,

we will stay at home as my relatives will come over.

In conclusion, Chinese New Year is my favourite time of the year bacause i get buy new clothes

and wear them during Chinese New Year. I also get to bond with my cousins.

It was around mid june, during my school holiday. I was laying on my couch when I

received a text from my close friend, Robert, "Hey Adrian, my parents has booked a

flight for our japan trip, we were unable to get monday since all the flights were fully

booked, but we manage to get sunday!" I quickly jumped up and shouted to my mum

"Mum!, could we head out to vivo to get my winter jacket, Robert parents could only get

sunday so we now have two days to pack". The following sunday had arrived and i was

thrilled for the trip, for the entire journey to the airport i was making a lists of things to do

at japan, and number one being, exploring Mount Fuji. after my mum had dropped me

off at the airport, it took little to no time to find robert and his parents. Me and Robert

said our goodbye's to our parents before going through security, then to out flight to

japan.

It had come to out final day in japan, and we ticked off almost everything off the list, for

example, trying out unqiue and extravagant foods, going to a tradtitional muesuem in

japan and learn out to properly hold and use a katana, but there was still one we haven't

done yet and for good reasons to, which was exploring Mount Fuji. Robert went down to

the hotel lobby to get us checked out while i was trying to contact the car we rented for

our trip. It was our final day so we planned to head straight back to the airport after

exploring Mount Fuji. The way there our driver told us ghost stories that happened in the

mountain which made Robert a bit frigthened, though i was still keen to explore the

mountain even after the ghost stories.

We asked our driver to come back around an hour and a half which would be 3.30pm,

as our flight was at 7pm. Me and robert took a final look at the road before accending

the mountain. Luckliy for us we had a full map of the moutain, inculding the path. Robert

was still worried we would get lost but i continued to assure him that noting bad would

happen. Going deeper and deeper into the forest, the path started to fade, the air

started to get colder, and the birds no longer chirping, Robert turned to me, looking

drained he asked if we could stop and sit near a tree to catch our breathes, i agreed as i

was feeling parched from walking such a long distance. We sat there for what felt like 5

minutes, but asthe breeze flew through my fast i coudn't help but close my eyes for

short while, "closing my eyes won't hurt" i said to myself while grasping my bag.

"Wake up!" Robert shouted at me with a terrfied voice, i opened my eyes to see

complete darkness, i wasn't able to the the tree which was only 5 feet away from me,

the only thing bright was Robert's flashlight glimming to my face. I immediately stood up,

the first thing i did was to check my phone, after tapping on a few times i realised he

had ran out of battery, so i took my watch to see that it was 8.34pm at night. I looked at

Robert with a sense of fear, "we have to had back now". We tried shining our flashlight

on the floor to find the path we were on, but it had snowed a little so the path could not

be seen, we tried looking around at the tree's to see anything that could help us find our

way back, but it was noting but darkness, and it didnt help that the path we went to was

far off any landmark. "what should we do?" Robert said with a trembling voice, i told him

we coudn't walk away randomly as it could get us even more deeper into the forest,
meaning it'll be harder for people to find us. "we have to wait" i said to robert while i

placed my hand on his shoulder.

We were there for what felt like hours, we tried rationing our water and snacks since we

didnt know how long we would be there for, we had prepared for the worst when we

heard fainlty dogs barking, we immediately took out our flashlights as soon as we heard

faint mumbles and light flashing our way. 2 hours had past after being rescued and the

police had inform us that our parents were on their way to japan to fetch us, we will

never forget that day, it was all thanks to out driver that we manage to escape, me and

Robert still talk about it to this day, and wondered a senario where i didnt tell the driver

what time to come back.

I went on a camping trip with my friend to a rainforest well known for its water falls and

the beautiful sceneries. As we were new to that rainforest, we packed a lot of things like

match boxes, water canteen and the daily accessories that we use, after packing our

big camping bags with the things we needed, and lastly our sleeping bags and tent.

After packing up, we took a transport that leads us to the rainforest.

Once we reached there, we hop off the transport and went ahead by foot. As we went

deeper into the forest, the sounds of bird chirping was getting louder and louder. After

securing a spot to set up out tents, we went out to fish for fresh salmons and cods. As

my friend was fishing by the lake, i was in the a small river near the lake searching for

firewood to make a fire with our matches, as we going to cook the fishes that my friend

fished in the lake. After collectiing firewood i went back to tent with my friend, after we

arrived to out tent i went to start the fire as my friend went to grab our spices out of ours

big camping bags. After we cooking the fishes, we ate good and slept for the night.

The next morning, we woke up to a noise that seems to be right outside our tent. As we

slowly opened the tent, the creature that was outside was just a deer, it ran off after

seeing us. As we packed our things and were ready to go back home. We realised that

we were lost and didnt know to return back the area where the transport comes to pick

us up at. As we were thinking hard on what we can do about it, i saw a rangers cabin

nearby so we headed there to ask for directions as headed to the ranger's cabin. My
friends leg got bitting by a Cooperhead. I dashed to the ranger's cabin to seek for help,

after thhat the ranger's came and treated my friend.

As we told the ranger about all of the things that happen, the ranger felt bad and gave

us a lift with his jeep and took us to the area that the transport comes from. As we

reached there, we thanked the ranger for his help and went into the transport. After

reaching home, we told our stories to ours parents and they were glad that we found our

way home.

It was a three day two night vacation at Hong Kong, as it was my first time at Hong Kong. I was
anxious as it was one of the most populated countries that I have been through, even a lot of
sky high buildings were cofusing me as all of them look the same.

One fine day when I walking around a mall at Hong Kong with my family, there was a huge
crowd infornt of us as we enter the night market. I was so engrous with the amount of food
variety, as I was looking at the food stall i turn back and saw that not one of my family were
behing me, so as a child I was scared and panicked the where through it. As I panicked away, I
have no signs of my parents.

I went looking for a nearby security guard, soon i spotted one of the security guard the
customer service table, I tell the security guard that I have lost my family, so the security guard
make an annoucement to the entire mall for a missing child. Soon after a few minutes have
gone by, my parents were scared and worried came looking for me and thank the security guard
and that is how I fid my way after I have gotten lost.

What is my favourite time of the year? Well I am so glad you asked! It actually is quite hard to
choose between Chinese New Year and Christmas, but I pick Christmas because it's a joyous
celebration where not only do we get together and get gifts for each other, it is also a time of joy
to create new memories with each other as we move on to the next year we surprising events
await us.

Not only do we spend time together, we also sacrifice some of our time to make iconic christmas
delicacies! A great example of that is actually the most notably well-known cake, the log cake. It
is called a log-cake because It looks like a log that has been covered in snow, although it is just
powdered sugar. What does the log-cake taste like? Well, It's just a normal cake, but something
about it makes it so delicious that it is overall just better in terms of taste if compared to other
cakes. For Christmas dinner, we will always have an amazing feast. The dinner would always
consist of ham, amazing steak, broccoli and vegetables, mashed potato, chicken and more! I
could go on rambling about the types of food we eat for christmas but that would take too long.
The ham was juicy and mildly sweet and salty, the steak was just perfect along with its sauce,
the broccoli that was covered in it's sauce was amazing as well! The mashed potato was salty
but when it was paired with it's sauce, it tasted like the food itself had came down from the
heavens. The Chicken was especially delicious, with just the fragrance flowing in the air, it's
enough to get your mouth watering!

All the food and all the past Christmas Celebrations, I have celebrated all of them with my
family. My dad, especially, liked all the food that was laid on the table. He knew I liked Ham so
he would always give whatever leftover Ham there was and put it on my plate. Christmas Is one,
If not, the best time of the year to be together with your loved ones, being with them makes you
feel at ease, as it reaches the climax of turning into a brand new year where the cycle repeats
itself over and over again.

My favourite time of the year is during December when it is the school holidays. It is my
favourite time of the year because I get to go back to my mother's hometown, which is Hainan,
in China.

I go there to visit my relatives and catch up with them as that's the only time I get to interact and
spend some time with them as I am always busy with school. I usually go back to China with my
mother. I am also more closer to my mother's family side compared to my father's family side.

Whenever I go back to China, my relatives would bring me on a shopping spree, bring me to eat
buffets, and eat a lot of good food. I don't have to worry about the money either as China's
currency is five times lower than Singapore's currency.

Since I am a nature lover, the best part about going to China is that I get to explore the natury
areas there and I get to go to different places to sightsee the waterfalls and mountains.

My favourite time of the year is December of more specifically christmas. I love December for
mostly two reasons, one there is no school so i can finally lay back and take a break from
waking up early in the morning and rushing to school, and two i give and recieve gifts and get to
go to holidy partys. Even though christmas is my favourite time of the year i still feel kind of
lonely due to me not being very interactive with lot of people and i dont get invited by friends
alot.

I feel like i mostly spend christmas alone, even if my parents or family members have a
christmas party, i would just stay in a room and be by myself most of the time not doing anything
or just using my mobile device to keep myself occupied. Even if christmas makes me feel lonely
i realise, i always felt lonely every year so it dosent really make much of a difference to stay in a
room. I will need to recharge as the year will always be stressful, and the last 2 months of the
year will be the only time i can have break. Even if i spend christmas alone i sometimes wish i
had a friend to keep me company, although that thought would quickly vanish when i want to
finish a book i am reading or finsih a game i was playing.

Chrismas, where it is the month of giving is my favourite time of the year. I love hanging up
Chrismas lights and decorations with my parents, cooking and baking with my grandmother and
I love the fact that I get to spend money and time to get gifts. From wrapping gifts to spending
with family and friends, seeing their reaction to their gifts, eating delicouse meals, singing jolly
songs and staying up. My family has a tradition of staying up from the night of Chrismas Eve to
watch old Chrismas movies and eat snacks till midnight. We usually invite some family friends to
binge watch all the movies with us. My friends and I started a tradition too. The day after
Chrismas we will all gather up to do a Secret Santa exchange. 10 days before the exchange we
will meet up and get a random name to buy the gift for.
