MUINUTES OF COOPRATIVE MEETING HELD ON 27.10.

PREAMBLE

The chairperson invited members to the group and thanked them for turning up in large numbers. The
following agenda were identified:

1. Reading of previous minutes and identification of matters arising.


2. Interim officials and promoters.
3. Registration of the cooprerative
4. Membership and share capital amount.
5. Cooperative objectives and activities to be undertaken.
6. By laws.

MIN 1/Oct/2024: Reading of previous minutes and identification of matters arising.

Previous minutes were read by the secretary. It was proposed by Eric Katui and confirmed by Josphine
cheruiyot as true minutes. The following matters arose:

 Members wanted to be enlightened further on the awareness done by the coopretative officer
on Thursday since it was a week day and most of them were not present.
 A history as to why the cooperative needs to be formed were highlighted. This follows a public
participation meeting held at Kaptarit where members identified the farming problems they
face and were advised to form a cooperative.

MIN 2/OCT/2024: Interim officials and promoters.

The following were elected as interim officials:

1. Desmond Kemboi – Chairperson


2. Mathew Biwott – Secretary
3. Phylis Cheboi – Treasurer

Other members identified as promoters were:

1. Stanley Kibet
2. Elijah Chemobo
3. Caroline Kiplagat
4. Eric Katui
5. Josphine Cheruiyot
6. Gladys Kimaiyo
7. James Lelit
MIN3/OCT/2024: Registration of the cooperative

Proposed name: Katalel Progressive Farmers Cooperative Society.

Postal address: 285-30700, Iten.

Physical address: Mindililwo village, Kap store shopping centre.

 For certification purposes, members were informed that a registration fee of ksh. 3700 and ksh.
150 for e citizen is required. Members have already raised Ksh. 5200 and members agreed to
use the money to meet the registration expense. Those who have not paid the ksh. 100 as
agreed were asked to pay.
 The registration certificate will take approximately three weeks after which an AGM will be
called.
 Members agreed to register a limited liability cooperative

MIN 4/OCT/2024: Membership and share capital amount.

Members proposed and agreed to operate membership fee of Ksh 300.

They also agreed to pay a minimum share capital of Ksh 2000.

MIN 5/OCT/2024: Cooperative objectives and activities to be undertaken.

Members identified the following as some of the objectives of the cooperative:

 To market dairy farming products.


 To source and provide cheap farm inputs to members.
 To do value addition to various farming products produced by members.
 To incorporate technology in farming.
 To economically empower members and train them on technological management practices.

In summary members highlighted the following as some of the products that they can deal with:

 Dairy products, Potatoes, Poultry, Horticultural, products, mushrooms and cash crops among
others.

MIN 5/OCT/2024: By laws.

A copy of guideline on making by laws was shared with members. Part of the by laws have been set so
far involving share capital and membership fee. More by laws will be developed as the cooperative
progresses especially during the first AGM.

here being no other business, the meeting ended with a prayer from Milka Kotut at 5:30 PM
