DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN CREATIVE WRITING

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, students are expected to:
1. identify what is imagery;
2. explain the different types of imagery;
3. give examples of imagery; and
4. use imagery to perform varied activities.

3. CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT
Before you take your seats, kindly pick up the pieces of paper
and arrange your chairs properly. After that, you may now take

Class monitor, kindly check the attendance. (Class monitor is checking the attendance.)

I have here class rules that I want you to follow throughout the

Before we proceed to our new lesson, let us have first a recap

Elements of Fiction.

Very good! So, what are the Elements of Fiction? The elements of fiction are Characters,
Setting, Point of View, Plot, Conflict, and
Theme.

Okay, it’s good to know that you really understood our lesson
last meeting. I think you are now ready for our new lesson.

7. MOTIVATION
Class, let us have a game titled “Solve and Guess.” What you are
going to do is to solve the math problem and guess the word that
corresponds to the number code.

Class, what do you think is Imagery?

Imagery appeals to the senses and describe in detail the


things around us. It uses figurative language to represent
objects, actions, and ideas in our senses.

In creative writing we have common types of imagery.


These are Visual, Auditory, Olfactory, Gustatory, and
Tactile.

First type of imagery is visual imagery.

Visual imagery is a picture in words, something that is


concrete and can be seen. Visual imagery includes color,
shape, size, and pattern.

Example:
The starry night sky looked so beautiful that it kept me
awake.
(The student will give his/her own example.)

The second type of imagery is auditory imagery.

Auditory imagery is something that you can hear through


your mind’s ears. Auditory imagery includes enjoyable
sound, noise, and silence.

We were welcomed by the chirping of the birds.

The third type of imagery is the olfactory imagery.

Olfactory imagery is something that you can smell through


your mind’s nose. Olfactory imagery include fragrances and
odors.

The aroma of the coffee is enough to keep me awake.

The fourth type of imagery is gustatory imagery.

Gustatory imagery is something that you can taste through


your mind’s tongue. Gustatory imagery includes sweetness,
sourness, saltiness, spiciness, and savoriness.

Example:

The fifth type of imagery is tactile imagery.

your mind’s skin. Tactile imagery includes temperature,
texture, touch, and movement.

The softness of the silk caressed my skin.

E. APPLICATION

In a group of five (5), I will give you varied activities that will
use our lesson for today which is Imagery. This will be the
Group 1, Group 2, Group 3, Group 4, and Group 5.

Group 1 – Draw a sight inside the school and explain. (Visual)


Group 2 – Listen to a song entitled “What a Wonderful World”
by Louis Armstrong and pick the lines that show imagery.
(Auditory)
Group 3 – Perform a short drama presentation showing the sense
of smell. (Olfactory)
Group 4 – Perform a cooking show in connection with the sense
of taste. (Gustatory)
Group 5 – Perform a guessing game by touching and describing
the object inside the box . (Tactile)

Criteria:
Presentation – 50%
Cooperation – 20%
Content – 30%
Total: 100 %
