Network Operations Engineer/Network Operations Technician

Job Overview:

The Network Operations professional is responsible for the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and
security of an organization's voice & data networks. This includes the monitoring of local area
networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and other networking technologies. Managing carrier-
based issues and supported KPI’s.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Network Monitoring and Troubleshooting:

- Monitor network performance and identify issues proactively.

- Investigate and resolve network problems and collaborate with other tech teams to address
issues promptly.

2. Network Configuration and Maintenance:

- Monitor network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.

- Support network changes and updates in accordance with change management processes.

4. Performance Optimization:

- Optimize network and carrier performance by analysing and adjusting configurations for
maximum efficiency.

- Recommend and implement improvements to enhance call connection KPI’s, network efficiency
and reliability.

5. Collaboration:

- Work closely with other IT teams, such as system administrators, security professionals, and
application developers, to support cross-functional projects and initiatives.

6. Documentation:

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of network configurations, processes, and


procedures.

- Create network diagrams and topology maps for reference.


7. Incident Response:

- Participate in incident response activities and contribute to post-incident reviews for continuous
improvement.

- Provide support during network-related emergencies and outages.

Qualifications and Skills:

- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

- Solid understanding of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN.

- Experience with network monitoring tools.

- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Familiarity with cloud networking technologies is a plus.

Experience:

Typically, candidates for Network Operations roles have 2-5 years of experience in network
administration or a related field.
