ARIAAdvantages FeatureSheet RAD10481 June2018
- This removes the human factor of importing/exporting treatment plans and images.
• Simplified pre-treatment QA process.
- Eliminates additional QA steps associated with manual data entry or incomplete data import.
- Eliminates the need to recreate setup fields, scale DRRs, and associate DRRs to the proper
treatment fields.
Ability to generate digitally • There is no need to go back to the treatment planning system to create DRRs and export them over
reconstructed radiographs to the oncology information system.
(DRRs) within ARIA • This can be done in the Treatment Preparation workspace within ARIA.
Varian Treatment Console & ARIA
Advantages: Why Important:
Plan integrity check • A plan signature is calculated at the time of plan approval. Upon opening the patient treatment
plan at the machine treatment console, the system recalculates the signature to verify that
important plan parameters remain the same as at the time of plan approval.
DICOM RT treatment • In the event the treatment does not save back to the record-and-verify system (e.g., Power outage),
record recovery the care team will be able to recover the treatment data from the backup files and import them
back into ARIA (dose, images and couch coordinates).
Complete transfer of • Photos, setup notes, reference point dose, and fractional information will transfer with the patient
patient data to the machine plan and display on the in-room monitor.
No specific workflow • Mandatory workflow is not required for imaging and shift/matching information to be saved back
process required to enable to the ARIA oncology information system.
greater clinical efficiency
On-demand DRRs • DRRs generated at the treatment console will be saved back to ARIA Offline Review.
No additional workflow • Re-imaging not required to visualize images off-line in the treatment position.
required to view treatment
images
Adherence to industry • DICOM RT and DICOM Worklist means ARIA can easily interface with other DICOM RT and DICOM
standard communication Worklist compliant treatment devices, planning systems, and diagnostic imaging equipment.
protocols
In-line product development • As new functionality becomes available on the treatment machines, ARIA will be designed to accept
it. There is no waiting for the electronic medical record (EMR) to be developed.
Daily treatment queue • This queue, available at the machine console, displays all pertinent patient information.
- Patient alerts
- Schedule
- Check-in status
Unified workspace • Imaging functionality utilized online at the Varian treatment console is the same as what is used in
interfaces for imaging ARIA Offline Review.
• This may reduce the learning curve.
HDR integration • HDR treatment doses and fraction counts are integrated and tracked in the RT Summary
workspace.
ARIA
Advantages: Why Important:
User Home • Configurable, user-specific workspace that allows each user to launch favorite workpaces, and
access schedules, task lists, and InSightive™ analytics dashboards if purchased.
ARIA Unified Reporting • Provides static reports that can be modified to fit the clinical needs, but also allows the user to
Application (AURA) create their own unique reports.
• These reports can be set to run and deliver automatically to others via email.
• Allows the user to run large dataset reports without impacting the speed of the production system.
• Reports can be launched out of any workspace in ARIA.
InSightive analytics* • An end-to-end analytics solution that can enable improved decision-making by efficiently
aggregating data that can be used to quickly generate smart, interactive dashboards and
visualizations.
• Leverage pre-built templates to determine payer mix, referral sources, operational performance,
and more.
• Realize real-time insights.
• Discover important patterns and trends.
• Facilitate data-driven decision-making.
• Data exploration capabilities
• Customizable data e-mail alert mechanism (v1.6 and above)
Visual Care Path • Intuitive, template-based flow charts that provide a consolidated, graphical view of each patient’s
treatment course, including the status and due dates of all activities and tasks related to their care
• When a clinical task has been completed, the staff member responsible for the next activity in the
sequence of events is automatically notified within the task list on the User Home.
RT Summary workspace • An interactive graphical interface that allows the care team to review all aspects of the patient’s
radiation treatment including, but not limited to:
- Prescribed dose
- Delivered dose
- All treatment images
- Machine overrides
- Patient alerts
Patient encounters • Offers a consolidated view of data that easily and effectively allows the user to navigate specific
patient care events such as consultations, treatment visits, follow-up appointments, simulations,
and weekly chart checks.
• Customizable encounter templates allow users to design a workflow within the patient’s chart
to interact with the functional areas such as review of systems, test results, entering vitals, and
creating notes among many others.
• These encounters can also be utilized as a checklist to assist clinicians documenting Advancing
Care Information (ACI) and clinical quality measures (CQMs) related to the CMS Quality Payment
Program.
Patient alerts • Customizable alerts used to communicate to the therapists directly at the treatment console both
before and after treatment.
• Often used to communicate patient-specific requests such as:
- Physician needs to see patient prior to treatment
- Patient needs to meet with social worker, lab, etc.
- Requests from Offline Review when the physician determines a shift from a previous port film,
2D/3D match, and/or CBCT
Flexible remote access • Access to portions of the patient EMR over your secure virtual private network (VPN) or mobile
devices.
External applications • Can be configured to open outside URLs such as the OncoPeer™ cloud community, MyVarian, and
the American Cancer Society without closing or minimizing ARIA.
ONC Certified Health IT • (ONC-Health IT) 2015 Edition Health IT Module Certification via the Drummond Group LLC, an
Authorized Certification Body (ACB) that has been empowered to test software for compliance
with the requirements of the federal government’s program.† ARIA® OIS for radiation oncology
version 15.5 meets the criteria for the 2015 Edition of the Merit based-Incentive Payment System
(MIPS)/ Quality Payment Program (QPP)
• Advancing Care Information (ACI)
