POLYLINE (pl):
Draws a line/curve with multiple control points.

This command functions very similarly to “line,” but when poly line is closed on itself, it forms a
polygon, that is recognized as a single object, whereas a square made from the “line” command
would be recognized as four lines.
Pay attention to the command line while using POLYLINE tool; it will show you variety of
options for the next move you can take. Following are some of the examples.
(Arc/Close/ Half width/ Length/ Undo/ Width)

“Esc” If you hit while drawing a polyline, the line terminates at the last point you clicked.

“close” If you type while drawing a polyline, it draws a segment that

connects the starting point and the last point you clicked (the line becomes a closed shape).

You can also draw an object with arcs using POLYLINE tool.

“Arc ” If you type while drawing a polyline, your next segment will be an arc. It will continue to draw
arc segments with tangent to the previous arc.

“Width” Specifies the width of the next polyline segments.

CIRCLE (c): Draws a circle.

First click will define center of the circle. Define the radius by typing it in or clicking.

In the Draw toolbar, click on the little triangle below the circle icon. Note that the
little triangle indicates additional options are available.

AutoCAD currently has six ways to draw a circle

Center, Radius:
Draws a circle based on a center point and a radius.

Center, Diameter:
Draws a circle based on a center point and a diameter.
.
CIRCLE (c): Draws a circle.

2 Points:
Draws a circle based on two endpoints of the diameter.

3 Points:
Draws a circle based on three points on the circumference.

TTR–Tangent, Tangent, Radius:

Draws a circle with a specified radius tangent to two objects.

TTT–Tangent, Tangent, Tangent:

Draws a circle tangent to three objects
ARC (Command): Creates an arc.
• Arc a: This command draws an arc. AutoCAD provides several ways to
draw an arc based on what information is known. These options are start,
end, center, angle, length, radius, and direction.
RECTANGLE (rec):

Draws a rectangle by defining two corners.

• Specify the first corner of the rectangle.

• Specify the other corner of the rectangle.

• If you type “d” after the first corner, you can specify the second corner by
the x and y distance from the first corner.

• You can also make a rotation for the rectangle by typing “R” after the first
corner.
POLYGON:
Draws a polygon by number of edges.

• If you choose to inscribe in circle, it draws a polygon inside the circle with the radius
you specify.

• If you choose to circumscribe about circle, it draws a polygon that contains the
circle with the radius you specify.

How to draw a polygon.

• After selecting the polygon, the command will bring up a prompt that will ask for a
number of sides, the center of the polygon, and then the radius of the circle.
SPLINE (Command)

• Creates a smooth curve that passes through or near a set of

fit points, or that is defined by the vertices in a control frame.

• Note
• Spline has a tendency to increase the file size and may cause
complication when modify later. Excessive use of splines are
not recommended especially when sharing a file with other
people.
