Tu 82 combine – blend – merge – two images

In this tutorial we will see how we can combine two images into one, in just a few
simple steps. If you want to use the same images as in the video, you can find the
download link in the video description. When Gimp is open, we go to file and click
on new. We will make a canvas on which we will work. Fill in 1920 as the width, hit
tab and then fill in 1080 as the height. You can also choose a larger or smaller size
canvas. Click on advanced options. At fill with, we choose the option foreground
color, which should be black by default. Now click okay. Zoom out a little, by
holding the Ctrl key down and rolling the mouse wheel. Go to file then, click open as
layers and open the first image. This image is way bigger than our canvas, although
we can only see what is on the canvas. Click the scale tool in the toolbox. Make the
image opacity about 50. Then click on the eye of the layer, to make it invisible. Now
click in the canvas. We can see the black canvas through the image. Click on the
chain icon to lock the proportions when we scale the image. We can now, by click
and drag, scale this image up or down, depending on the original size and our own
preference. When we click and drag in the center circle, we can move the whole
image. All done? Click scale and then we make the layer visible again. Go back to
file and again click on open as layers. Now we search for the second image, and open
it. Make this layer invisible by clicking the eye. While the scale tool is still active, we
click within the yellow lines of the image that is now invisible, to make the scale
dialog box visible again. Scale this image up or down, and move it to its proper
position by click and drag the little circle in the center. Then click on the scale button,
and make the layer visible again. Right click on the layer and hit add layer mask.
Leave the settings at the default white full opacity, and click add. Then we go to the
toolbox and activate the blend tool. We can leave the default settings as they are.
Now we can draw a line from the left to the right, like so, to make the gradient. This
we can do again and again, until it is to our liking. We can also make a diagonal
gradient, like so. When we draw a line and then press the Ctrl key, it will change to
an exact horizontal line, which makes the gradient exact vertical. Satisfied? Go to
image and hit flatten image. And that is how we can blend two images together. I
hope this was helpful, and if that is the case, please be so kind, to give it thumbs up,
maybe leave a nice comment, and subscribe if you have not done already, to support
my channel. Thanks very much for watching.
