In argumentative essay where the students collect the data through interviews, surveys,
observation or experiments. The students learn about the topic and the understand different
points of view regarding the topic so the he/she may choose the position and support it with the
evidence.
In the first paragraph of an argumentative essay students must set the context by reviewing the
topic in a general way. In the next part students should explain why the topic is important, or
why the reader should care about the matter. As a example I get a one topic. My topic is
Computer games and Sri Lankan teenagers.
Today there are lot of teenagers in the Sri Lanka. Among them lot of teenagers play computer
games – mostly pleasure, mostly alone. But they have wasted their valuable time, lot of their
health and money, doing it too much. True, some computer games may develop the user’s
reasoning skills, their ability to solve problems. But playing computer games can also have a
detrimental effect on a person especially if they are consuming by the activity to the point. They
neglect their everyday responsibilities and their well – being. The overuse of computer games
affect a person negatively an quite levels, mostly one’s physical, mental and emotional health,
but also their finance. This is not to say that playing computer games alone is bad for a person,
how ever, when it begins to affect a person’s life in a negative way. It becomes a problem, and
it’s a problem our society must acknowledge and work hard to fix..
An argumentative essay should have logical things. Without logical things, the reader is unable
to follow the essay’s argument, and the structure will collapse.
Let’s talk about the how the overuse of computer games negatively affects a person’s physical
health.
Computer games played standing up or moving around. This makes for bad cardiovascular
health. Which means potential heart problems an strokes – and of course obesity, which causes
premature death in a person.
Computer games can be detrimental to a person’s mental and emotional health. The man is time
consuming activity. Even if the enjoy playing the computer games, the user will eventually start
feeling lonely, unfulfilled and out of touch with reality.
Body paragraph
In this paragraph the writer should be discuss about the general idea.it is important to note that
each paragraph in the body of the essay must have some logical connection to the thesis
statement in the opening paragraph. Some paragraph will directly support the thesis statement
with evidence collected during research. It is also important to explain how and why the
evidence support the thesis.
However argumentative essays should also consider and explain differing points of view
regarding the topic. In this section students should explain hoe these different opinions are wrong
outright, students should note how opinions that do not align with their thesis might not be well
informed or how they might out of date.
Evidential support
The argumentative essay requires well – researched, accurate, detailed, and current information
to support the thesis statement and consider other points of views. However, students must
consider multiple points of view when collecting evidence. It is unethical to exclude evidence
that may not support the thesis. It is not the student’s jo to point out how other position are
wrong outright, but rather to explain hoe other position may not be well informed or up to date
on the topic.
Conclusion
Conclusion is the final paragraph the argumentative essay. As well as lot of students may begin
to struggle. This is the portion of the essay that will leave the most immediate impression on the
mind of the reader. There for, it must be effective and logical. Do not introduce any new
information in to conclusion. Restate why the topic is important, review the main points, and
review your thesis. You may also want to include a short discussion of more research that should
be completed in light of your work.
