(i) Solve the following quadratic equation :
2𝑥 2 – 7x – 39 = 0
(ii) The points P (4,3), Q (1,0) and R (–4,5) are the vertices of a right-angled
triangle. Reflect the points of ∆PQR in y-axis and using graph, check whether it
remains a right triangle after reflection.

(iii) Prove that : (𝑠𝑖𝑛2 𝐴 − 1 ) x (𝑡𝑎𝑛2 𝐴 + 1 ) = – 1

(i) Nine identical cards are numbered 2 to 10.A card is selected from them at

(i) A man has a RD account in a Bank for 3 years.If the rate of interest is 12% per

annum and the man gets Rs.10,206 on maturity .Find the value of monthly
instalments.
(ii) Prove that : (𝑐𝑜𝑠𝐴 + 𝑠𝑖𝑛𝐴)2 + (𝑐𝑜𝑠𝐴 − 𝑠𝑖𝑛𝐴)2 = 2
(iii) A motor boat whose speed is 9km/hr in still water, goes 12km down stream
and comes back in a total time of three hours. Find the speed of the stream.

(i) If (x+5) is the mean proportion between (x+2) and (x+9); find the value of x.
(ii) Given that : (x+2) and (x – 3) are factors of 𝑥 3 + ax + b; calculate the values of
a and b.
(iii) Mr.Gautam Gambhir visits the market and buys the following items :

If the company pays Rs.20 per share as dividend ,find the income. Find also
the yield percent.
