LESSON 2 MICROSOFT
PAINT

Objectives:
At the end of the
lesson, the learners
should be able to: Starting Up
a. identify parts of the
paint window;
b. use the paint
window; and
c. manifest the value
of “excellence” by
using the tools in
Microsoft Paint to
draw and color
objects.

In this lesson, you will be able to practice further what you


have learned about Microsoft Paint.

You will make simple drawings using lines and shapes. You
will also use colors on different parts of your drawings.
Parts of the Paint Window

File Tab Quick Access Toolbar

FILE
TAB
This button shows the FILE menu. This menu contains
commands that let you create, open, save, and print drawings.

Quick Access
Toolbar
This toolbar shows the buttons for commands that are used
the most. These include the SAVE button, the UNDO button, and the
REDO button.

RIBBON

This displays all the tools, commands, and options that you
can use for your drawing. There are two ribbon tabs on the Paint
window.
The HOME tab has the different tools you can use you to draw. The
VIEW tab contains options or commands for how the drawing area
appears on the screen. It also contains options for what tools appear on
the Paint window.

DRAWING

This is the white space on the Paint Window. It appears like a piece of
paper on which you can draw.

STATUS
BAR

This is the bar at the bottom of the Paint window. It shows the size of
the drawing area and the current location of the mouse pointer.

It also contains ZOOM SLIDER, which you can use to zoom in or out of
your drawing.

TOOLS
The LINE TOOL allows o to create straight lines.

 To use the Line tool, select it from the SHAPES group. Click and while
holding the left mouse button drag the mouse pointer on the drawing
area to draw a line.
When you select the LINE tool, the pointer changes into a
crosshair when you move it to the drawing area.

The CURVE TOOL is used to draw curve lines.

Computer Lab Activity : Do the following activity. Follow each step.

1. Open Paint on your computer.


2. Draw a rectangle using the Line tool.
3. Draw any shape in another part of the drawing area. Use the Curve tool to do this.
4. Under the Shapes group, click a shape that you want to draw. Draw this shape in
another part of the drawing area.
5. Ask the help of your teacher in saving your work.
