At the end of the lesson, the learners will be able to:
A. Find the area of a triangle;
B. Apply the formula in order to find the area of a triangle, and;
C. Recognize the importance of finding area of a triangle in mathematical problems
and real-life situations.
Content Standard:
The learner demonstrates understanding of the concept of time, perimeter, area, and volume.

Performance Standard:
Learner is able to apply the concepts of time, perimeter, area, and volume to mathematical
problems and real-life situations.

Most Essential Learning Competencies: The learner finds the area of a triangles,
parallelograms and trapezoids using sq. cm and sq. m. (M4ME-IVb-58)

II. Subject matter

A. Topic: Finding the Area of Triangle
B. References: Mathematics 4 MELC 2022-2023.
C. Materials: Power point presentation, pictures, visual aids and learning activity
sheet.
D. Values: Patriotism, perseverance and cooperation
III. Procedure:

Teacher’s activity Pupil’s activity

A. Preliminary Activities:
a. Prayer
Everyone, please stand. Are you ready to pray classmate?
Michael, please lead the prayer. Yes, we are.

b. Greetings
Good morning, class! Good morning, Sir!
Okay, how are you today class? We are good, we are great, we are very
I’m glad to hear that. well today!
Okay, you may now take your seats. Thank you, Sir!

c. Attendance
(The teacher will check the attendance Hooray, Sir! (Pupils who are present.)
of the students by saying “Hep Hep” Hep Hep, Sir! (If there is an absent in the
instead of saying “Absent” and Hooray if class.)
“Present.”

d. Classroom Management
(Before the teacher proceeds to his (The pupils will follow the signs/pictures
lesson today, he will show some shown by the teacher.)
pictures/signs to his pupils to maintain
the classroom organized and have a
positive learning environment.)

e. Motivation
1 and 1=2 Song
The teacher will ask the students to (The pupils will stand and sing.)
stand and sing a song in order for them
to be energized.
Thank you, children. I think you are
all good in singing. Kindly sit down. (The pupils will take their seats.)

f. Drill
I have here a flashcard and please raise
your hand first if you want to answer. Yes sir!
Is it clear?

(Pupils will raise their hands when they

answer the questions on the flashcards.)

Very good, class!

g. Review
Before we proceed to our new lesson,
let’s have a review. Who can still
remember our previous lesson? (Pupils will raise their hands.)

Yes, student A.
That’s right! Finding the Area of a Parallelogram

(Teacher will show a figure of

parallelogram.)

How can we find the area of a

parallelogram? By using a formula, sir.

So, what is the formula to find the

area of parallelogram? The formula to find the area of
parallelogram is A=bxh.
Very good! Student A.

Let us try to answer this.

9 cm

4 cm

Therefore, the area of the parallelogram

is… 36 cm2
Very good, class!

Class, don’t forget the unit.

What is the unit that we use when we find Sir, the unit that we use to find the area
the area? is square unit.

It’s seems that you learned from our last

topic, so now let’s proceed to our new
lesson.

B. Lesson Proper:

a. Activity
Children, I have here a four puzzle pieces.
I need four volunteers to arrange these (Pupil who wants to volunteer will raise
pieces and form a figure behind these. their hands.)
1. Flag 2. Fiesta Decoration

3. Pyramid 4. Wall Clock

Very good, children! Let’s give them good

job clap.
b. Analysis
(The teacher will ask the pupils to analyze
about the puzzles they have formed.)

Questions:
Okay, class. I want you to tell me what you
can see in the picture.

Questions:
 What figure we’ve formed in the first
picture? It’s a flag, sir.
Yes, it’s a Philippine flag.

Have you seen a real flag? Yes, sir! During flag raising ceremony of
the school.

Yes. Class, do we really need to Yes, sir. It is really important to respect

respect our flag? Why? our flag because we, Filipinos, it is our
responsibility to maintain and respect the
great persons who contributed to our
freedom.
That’s right. Giving respect to our
flag shows our patriotism.
That is why last month we’ve
celebrated our Independence Day.
When was that?
On 12th day of June.
 What image we can see in the
second puzzle? It’s a fiesta decoration/banderitas.
 How about in the third and the last
picture? It’s pyramid and a wall clock.
 So, based on the pictures I have
shown to you, what are the common It’s triangle, sir!
shapes that you can see?
Very good class! Let’s give ourselves a
shooting star clap!

Now, what do you think is our finding for

today?
That’s right!

Therefore, our lesson for today is finding

the area of a Triangle. Sir, it’s finding the Area of Triangle.
c. Abstraction
(The teacher will present his topic with a
situation/problem first before he will show
the process on how to find the area of a
triangle.)

(The teacher will show a picture of a pond.) (Pupils will raise their hand.)
What is the shape of our pond? Sir, it’s in triangular shape.
Very good!
How long is its base? Sir, it’s 10 meters.
How about its height? It’s 6 meters

So, who wants to go to the board (Pupils will come in front and point out
and point out where is the base and the location of the base on the picture.)
height located in this figure? The base is located at the bottom part of
the figure and the height is how tall the
object is.

Is she/he correct? That’s right. Yes, sir!

Alright, let’s give her/him a shooting

star clap.

Now, what do you think are we

going to do to find the area of the We need a formula.
triangle?

Yes, we need a formula.

(The teacher will show the students the (The pupils will take note and listen
formula and the procedures on how find the carefully.)
area of a triangle.)

What figure is this?

Correct! This a parallelogram with a It’s a parallelogram, sir!
line in between?

If we cut this parallelogram along

the line, what shape do you think We create a triangle!
have we formed?
Very good, class!

Since, we only get the half of our

parallelogram, so we divided it into
two. Let’s take a look with our
formula in finding the area of a
triangle.
Now, let’s solve this example:

6m

10 m
Solutions:
A= b x h
2
= 10m x 6m
2
= 60 m2
2 Yes, sir!
A= 30 m2
Okay, is it clear? Can you now find
the area of the triangle? (The answers of the pupils may vary.)

Now, what do you think is the

importance of finding the area of the
triangle in real-life situations?
Yes, class. Also, finding area of the
triangle would help you to be
informed not only when you are
playing with your favorite building
blocks, puzzles or toys but also
triangles are also useful in real world
like road signs/traffic signals, on our
houses, and in food (think chips or
pizza).

d. Application (The pupils will go to their groupmates.)

Group Activity:
Okay class, it seems that you really
know how to derive the formula in
finding the area of triangle.
Now let’s have a group activity. In
this activity, you are all expected to
show cooperation and perseverance Yes, sir!
with your groupmates in solving the
problem. Did you understand? (Each group will solve the problem inside
the envelope and once they are finished
(The teacher will divide the class into three answering, they will present their output
groups and give them an envelope. Inside in class.)
of the three envelopes are problem to be
solved by each group.)

Group 1.

3 cm
Group 2
7m

Group 3.

8m

Very good class, give yourselves a good

job clap!

IV. Evaluation (The students will write their answers in a

Instructions: one whole sheet of paper.)
Find the area of the given figure.
Show your solution. (5pts. each
number)

1.

9 cm

2.

10 cm

5 cm
3.

4 cm

VI. Assignment

Answer the following:

(Students will copy the assignment and
1. A triangular garden has a base of 12m write them in their notebooks. Then, they
and a height of 7m. Find the area of the will it submit it next meeting.)
garden.
2. A field is in the shape of a right triangle
with a base of 15 m and a height of 9 m.
What is the area?
