THE UNIVERSITY
University of Hyderabad is the top leader for

learning, teaching and research in the country
and has heritage of 4 decades of continuous
excellence in imparting quality education and
research-oriented education since its inception
in 1974 with Prof. Gurbaksh Singh as its first
vice Chancellor. With 46 different departments
and centers organized in 12 schools of study,
the university has over 400 faculty and 5000
students. The university offers more than 150
programmes of study ranging from post
graduate diplomas and short term courses by
distance mode. It also has a thriving five year
integrated masters programme. The University
also hosts an ever increasing number of foreign
scholars in the highly popular “study in India
programme”.
The University also has immense bio diversity

with over 2000 plus acres of campus ground
and is home to various species of flora fauna,
beautiful lakes, rock formations and natural
vegetation which give the campus a serene
environment.

The journey of School of management studies

began in May, 1999 with its inauguration by
Shri. C. Rangarajan, former RBI Governor and
since its inception the school has come a long
way providing highly conducive academic
environment and interaction with hard
working, Industry oriented professors and
making industry ready and competitive
management professionals. The school offers
AICTE approved two-year full-time
residential MBA programme, PhD programme
and unique MBA programme in Health care
and Hospital Management and Business
Analytics. under the umbrella of UOH which
is renowned for cutting-edge research,
interactive teaching and learning activities,
School of management studies had made its
own identity in developing new domains of
managerial thought and education that
develops students into socially responsible
and competitive managers. The school also
has MOU with North Rastern Illinois
University for Student Exchange and credit
transfer programs. The school recently
celebrated it's 20th Anniversary.

WHY RECRUIT
FROM SMS?
School of Management Studies, University of Hyderabad has
the benefit of being under the counsel of one of the best
universities in the country with state of the art facilities.
Unlike, other B schools who are standalone and have access
to only the corporate and industrial scheme of things, SMS
can boast of a more holistic approach to corporate and
business life. With continuous interaction with students
from across different fields of study, we try to decipher and
understand not just the business aspect but also the societal
and cultural perspective of things. Corporate life, as dynamic
and unimaginable may be needs people who can think
about an issue from a wide range of perspectives and we at
SMS are attuned to that line of thinking thanks to coexisting
with other departments in close proximity.
We are not the best and do not claim to be so. Our USP lies
in the fact that we know where we stand and are competing
with ourselves, to be a better version of ourselves every
single day. We have a healthy mix of students in terms of
gender, place and work experience from across different
fields of study which helps us to tackle any case in point
with a more dynamic and varied approach.
Nestled in the heart of Hyderabad city, we have access to
the beauty of nature in our sprawling campus of 2300 acres
with close proximity to the financial district housing major
corporate firms, which is a constant reminder of the balance
that we as the youth need to maintain for a sustainable
growth and development of our country and the world.
Another unique aspect of our school are our distinguished
faculty members who bring with them loads of years of
industry experience and relevant research in their fields
which prepares us for the reel life situations that we may
encounter in our work life in the future.
To conclude, above all on account of being not so prominent
and less well known, we constantly strive to learn which is,
we believe is our salient aspect.

One word can sum up our focus at the School of Management

Studies (SMS) - TRANSFORMATION!
During the time students spend with us, we work to transform them
in various ways so as to make a positive impact in the organizations
they choose for their careers. The course work provides them the
professional knowledge to be successful managers, the soft -skills training prepares them to be
effective at communication and interpersonal skills, and the holistic program design develops
them to be good citizens.
SMS takes advantage of being part of University of Hyderabad. Our faculties work closely with
each other in enhancing student learning and joint research activities. Students take advantage
of this variety by taking courses from other schools that support their concentration. This helps
our students develop a multidisciplinary perspective so important in the business world today.
The current economic scenario is highly competitive and requires participants to deal with
uncertainties and turbulent situations while keeping an eye on performance. Our students are
keenly aware of the need to be innovative and analytical to stand out in a crowded marketplace.

Scheduling - Recruiters will contact the placement office to discuss and to schedule the possible
dates for pre-placement talk. WIthin a week span the talk would be conducted at the school.
Pre Placement Talk - The Pre-placement talks with atleast of 30 minutes presentation and 15
minutes direct Q&A session are recommended at school, so that students get a brief knowledge of
company, culture, policies, Job Description etc.
Recruitment - Companies conduct their on-campus recruitment process, infrastructure for

conducting aptitude tests, interviews etc., are available at school.
Results - The recruiters would intimate the list of selected candidates to the placement office.
Offer Letters - The joining dates of the selected candidates would be worked out as per the
requirement of the companies and the course completion date of the students.
