on homework in a week:

 • (d) Find the mode of the data.

Q4. A survey was conducted to find out the favorite sports of students in a class.
The results are as follows:
12 students like Cricket, 8 like Football, 6 like Basketball, and 10 like Badminton.

• (a) Which sport is the most popular?

• (b) Which sport is the least popular?

• (c) What is the total number of students surveyed?

• (d) If 5 more students join the class and all of them like Basketball, how will it affect the
popularity of Basketball?

Q1.
• (a) Sita read the maximum number of books (15).

• (b) Meena read the minimum number of books (7).

• (c) The total number of books read by all the students is 8+12+7+15+10=528 + 12 + 7 +
15 + 10 = 528+12+7+15+10=52.

• (d) The average number of books read by each student is 525=10.4\frac{52}{5} =

10.4552=10.4.

• (a) Marks in ascending order: 45, 56, 60, 66, 72, 78, 89.

• (b) Range of marks: 89−45=4489 - 45 = 4489−45=44.

• (c) Median of marks: The median is the middle value, which is 66.

• (d) Mean of marks: 56+72+89+45+60+78+667=4667≈66.57\frac{56 + 72 + 89 + 45 + 60 +

78 + 66}{7} = \frac{466}{7} \approx 66.57756+72+89+45+60+78+66=7466≈66.57.

• (a) Number of students who spend more than 6 hours: 4 (8, 7, 9).
 • (b) Number of students who spend exactly 5 hours: 2.

• (c) Total hours spent on homework: 5+6+8+3+7+4+5+9=475 + 6 + 8 + 3 + 7 + 4 + 5 + 9 =

475+6+8+3+7+4+5+9=47.

• (d) Mode of the data: 5 (since it occurs most frequently).

• (a) The most popular sport is Cricket (12 students).

• (b) The least popular sport is Basketball (6 students).

• (c) The total number of students surveyed: 12+8+6+10=3612 + 8 + 6 + 10 =

3612+8+6+10=36.

• (d) If 5 more students join and all like Basketball, the new number of students who like
Basketball becomes 6+5=116 + 5 = 116+5=11. Basketball's popularity will increase but
Cricket will still be the most popular.
