Sodium chlorate(I) solution decomposes into sodium chloride and oxygen gas when a few
drops of cobalt(Il) nitrate are added in excess. The cobalt(ll) nitrate is not changed by this
process.
ln an experiment 20cm3 of sodium chlorate(I) solution was used, and the volume of oxygen
gas produced was recorded at various intervals as shown.
