alphabet are possible?

Fundamental Counting Principle-

Total # of ways E 1 and E2 can occur =

*The fundamental counting principle is used to calculate the # of


permutations there are of certain groups of elements.

permutation-

*There are n! permutations of n elements


Ex. 3: How many ways can a band create a concert set list from
12 songs?

Ex. 4: Out of 8 students, three are awarded prizes (1st, 2nd, 3rd).
In how many different ways can these students place 1st, 2nd,
and 3rd?
