Overview

VC-PE firms invested

$46 BILLION (across 1,261 deals)
in companies in 2022
Source: Economic Times, Jan,2023

India had about 50,000 start-ups in India in 2018, around 8,900 – 9,300
of these were technology-led start-ups. Over a thousand new tech start-
ups were born in 2019 alone, implying that there are 2-3 tech start-ups
born every day. Venture Capital (VC) funding in India broke all records
in 2021, with $42 Billion raised by start-ups, which was more than the
$37 Billion combined funding that was raised in the last three years. The
year 2022 despite being termed as a funding winter for start-ups, has
still had Indian organisations raise more than $20.82 Billion in the first
eight months alone.

The top acquisition deals in 2022 included Pickrr by Shiprocket, Ezetap

by Razorpay,Knowlarity by Gupshup, Karza Technologies by Perfios,
Setu by Pine Labs, Indus OS by PhonePe.
Today, India is the third-largest start-up ecosystem in the world, with more
than 84,400 such ventures operating across 656 districts in the
country. Hence, for any senior leader in the private equity (PE), capital
and investment management space, it becomes more important than ever
to understand how to make the right investment calls, how to lead teams
to identify the right opportunities and how to spot the opportunities that
may not pan out.

The Venture Capital and Private Equity Programme is a 22-week

journey crafted by globally renowned ISB faculty and is designed to give a
comprehensive overview of venture capital and private equity ecosystem.
In this programme you will learn how to evaluate investments, structure
and source deals, manage portfolios, and gain competitive advantage in
venture capital and private equity sectors.

Testimonial

The Success Coach was the highlight of this programme for me. I think that his
commitment to ensure that he discussed the important aspects of how to unpack
some of the VC/PE industry trends and encouraging participants to consider different
points of view and nuances was tremendously helpful and appreciated. In terms of
personal benefit, as someone who was exposed to investment-related discussions
going around, it has certainly contributed to improving my understanding and also
helped me to confidently engage and contribute to some of these discussions when
the opportunity presents itself. It is an achievement after taking this programme.

Governance concerns raised doubts about the company's ability to make decisions in the best
interest of shareholders and faced scrutiny over its financial & business model. The
amendments revealed substantial losses, governance issues, and other concerns,
exacerbating the existing skepticism among investors.

Tylenol
In September 1982, seven people in the Chicago area died after consuming Extra-Strength

The case study will highlight the significant crisis management.
