INVENTORY MANAGEMENT: SEMESTER PROJECT

1. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
 This is a semester project that considers various problems in the Inventory Management
field.
 Students are required to form and register a group of 4 members and choose the suitable
project option.
 Registration deadline is: 22/9/2024.
 Registration link: here (please register in the right group tab)
 After the deadline, the remaining students who did not register will be assigned to groups
randomly.

2. REQUIREMENTS
After forming a group, each group can choose one of the following options for the research
topic:
 Option 1: Your group will be given a research paper.
 Option 2: Your group will conduct a real-life case study (collecting data from a real
system and applying knowledge from Inventory Management course).

2.1. Work with a given case study.

Each group is assigned a system to study. Group should work together to carefully
study the system to perform the following jobs:
1. Summarize the case: system description, problem statement, scope, and
limitation.
2. Model formulation and description.
3. Choose one of the three following options.
4. Show your works the option you choose with available data or random generated
data.
5. Conduct sensitivity analysis and result analysis.

Each group will be able to choose one of the three following options:

against which you will evaluate and compare the meta-
heuristics. These criteria could include factors like
convergence speed, solution quality, ease of
implementation, and computational efficiency.
 Groups can apply C++, Python or MATLAB to
implement the heuristics or algorithms.

2.2. Real-life case study

In this option, your group can choose your topic on your own. However, your group must
follow the guideline below:
1. Define the case: Problem statement; Objective; Scope and Limitation; Literature review
(please specify your key references)
2. Formulate a mathematical model (parameters, decision variables, objective function,
constraints) or propose a feasible heuristic or algorithm to solve the problem. Note:
You can utilize formulas and concepts from the Inventory Management course as your
references and foundations for this task.
3. Solve your problem with data collected from a real system.
4. Conduct result analysis and sensitivity analysis.
5. Draw conclusions, mention the new findings, limitations, and suggestions for future
work.

Finally, near the end of the semester, each group must submit a professional report (the
report guideline will be announced later) and have a presentation with Q&A sections at the
end. The overall group project score of an individual will be determined by the group project
score and peer evaluation percentage.
