agreed that for each $90 Kristal earns, she will give $10 to make an even $100.

1) What is the ratio of Kristal's money to her mom's share?

a) Write down the ratio of prize money to the number of hotdogs eaten for each of
the top three male and female competitors in2017.

I would prefer Fractions because it is much easier to diversify the numbers.

d) Represent the ratio of the number of hot dogs eaten by each of the winners
(from all of the competitions) to the duration of the competition in four ways.

e) Which representation in part (d) makes Joey chestnut's world record in 2017
most visible? Explain.

Decimal and percentage. Both are making joeys world record most visible

Part 4 (Word problems - mixed criterions)

1) The ratio of size between a small bottle and a large bottle is 2:3. Given that the
total capacity of the two bottles is 10 litres, show that the capacity of the small
bottle is 4 litres and the capacity of the large bottle is 6 litres.

Small bottle: Large bottle


Ratio 2:3
Total capacity = 10 litres
Small bottle can hold 4 litres
Large bottle can hold 6 litres

2) The ratio of the area between a small square of land and a large square of land
is 3 : 7.Given that the total area of the two squares of land is 4,000 m2, find the
area of each square of land.

Small sq : large sq
= 3:7
Total metre sq = 4000
Small square = 1200 m sq
Large square = 2800 m sq

3) The ratio between the weight of a small dumb-bell and a large dumb-bell is 2 :
7. Given that the total weight of the two dumb-bells is 27 kg, find the weight of
each dumb-bell.

Total = 27 kg
Small dumb bell = 6 kg
Large dumb bell = 21 kg
