The Coca Cola Company is founded in 1892, where it produce

several of beverages and it is one of the world’s largest beverage
distributor and manufacturer. The supply chain of Coca Cola plays
an important role in the company and is responsible for the
acquisition, planning, production, engineering and sustainability of
the company. It minimizes environmental impact and takes into
account sustainability in the chain in all processes from sourcing raw
materials and producing the final product to distributing it to the
customers.
The supply chain starts with the acquisition of raw materials, which
further includes agricultural products and water in the case of Coca-
Cola. The most essential ingredients are locally sourced in order to
maintain the supply chain brief and quick which is essential to ramp
up production, such as water and sugar, with the partners being
able to choose only the type of sugar used. Beet sugar is used
primarily in Europe, cane sugar in Asia and sugar from corn in
America.
The Atlanta headquarters of the Coca-Cola Company manufactures
the concentrated syrup and sells it to Coca-Cola Enterprises or
another bottling partner responsible for the sales of the product.
It is sent by the bottling partner to a production plant that combines
the syrup with all other ingredients, like filtered water and
flavorings. After that, the final product is packaged by the bottler.
The logistics team supervises all operational activities and
guarantees that every bottles makes it onto the trucks and on to the
roads once bottles are filled and distributed to local retailers.
The company has a responsibility to ensure that the bottles reach all
the way to the fridges of the retailers once goods are distributed to
the retail outlets. To guarantee that in-store merchandising allows
Coca-Cola products easily accessible, the marketing departments of
the company have outstanding relations with retailers.
From the start of the process from each bottle when fresh
ingredients reach the factory, through the very final moment when
it's chilling in the fridge; the main factors which complete the
process from factory to fridge smooth and effective are collaborative
effort, sustainability, innovation and productivity.
