Rules & Regulation

Setting Up
1.Play in a flat, rectangular arena 13 meters (42.7 ft)
wide x 10 meters (32.8 ft) long.
2.Use lines and markings to divide the court
appropriately.
3.Divide into two teams of seven players each.

Understanding The Basics

1. Flip a coin to decide which team will go first.


2. If your team goes first, send a “raider” across the
mid line.
3. If your team doesn’t go first, defend!
4. Take turns alternating between raiding and
defending.
5. Send players out when they are tagged, captured,
or break a rule.
6. “Revive” players by getting an opponent out.

Using Advanced Scoring


Rules
1. Score a "Lona" by getting the entire other team
out.
Score a "super tackle" by capturing the opponent
with three or fewer defenders.
2. Score points when your opponents break the
game's rules.
3. Score points when your opponents break the
game's rules.

Terminologies & Skills

Cant: This is the continuous and clear chant of the


word ‘kabaddi’ by the raider. The raider is supposed to
chant within the course of one respiration. Cant is the
heartbeat of raiding and also kabaddi.

Super Tackle: The team earns an extra point when


the there are three or less players and they
successfully manage to pin down the raider. Therefore
a total of two points is given for a single tackle.
Super Raid: Super raid is when the raider scores three
or more points in a single raid. This is one of the most
most difficult skills to pull off in kabaddi.

Do or Die Raid: Do or die is a consequence raid. It


happens when there are two consecutive empty raids.
The raider has to touch at least one defender in the this
attempt. If the raider fails to score, he will considered
out.
All Out: ‘All-out’ is used when all the members of the
team return to sitting block. The opponent team
receives additional two points to their tally after all the
members are out. Additionally, all the members are
then revived.

Struggle: Struggle means when one of more


defenders comes into contact with the raider. The
lobbies are counted as part of the court when the raider
touches someone or there is a struggle.
