Social networks have become an integral part of our lives in the modern world.

This happened because we cannot even imagine life without communication.

Firstly, the initial emotion that social networks evoke in an ordinary person is a
positive attitude towards the advantages. For many people, it is a source of
inspiration, communication with friends, and meeting new people, which helps
expand the social network and strengthen connections.
Secondly, then after the advantages, a person thinks about the disadvantages and
negative impacts that social networks bring. These may include loss of personal
privacy, addiction to constant online use, wasting time on useless content, and
comparing oneself to others, which can lead to negative emotions and poor mental
well-being.
However, in my essay, I will reveal only those positive and negative aspects that
are associated with my life and are important to me.
What are the positive aspects of using social networks? The most important
advantage is communication. I think that many people would also name the
opportunity to work on social networks and entertainment content, which is necessary
and important for a break from work or study.
For me, communication remains the most important advantage because, with the
help of social networks, I can maintain not only communication with people who
surround me every day but also communicate with those who left for other countries
because of the war: my relatives, friends and more one person. When I say the phrase
"one person", I mean a person with whom I communicated only because of the
possibility of communication on social networks. After moving to another country, I
became his support and a way to not feel alone. And only after a long time because of
everyday communication, we become people who share our experiences and life
stories.
Previously, I could not even imagine how much I would depend on social
networks to get a daily dose of positive emotions and communication. Naturally, no
messenger can replace real communication and the opportunity to look into each
other’s eyes, but since this is impossible now, we can only count the days until we
meet. But without social networks, all this would be impossible...
Another advantage of social networks, I consider information resources. It must
be admitted that Gen Z no longer gets information from TV or newspapers. All
important information publics are located on social networks and any user can choose
a news topic that will be interesting. It is often believed that it could be anything:
from the fashion industry to cooking and political news.
However, it is important to note that our society finds out news about military
operations through social networks, and by staying up to date with current
information, you can protect yourself and your loved ones from dangerous incidents.
The main drawback of social networks is the negative impact on life. By using
these words, I mean a combination of many factors: psychological trauma that society
inflicts through social networks, as well as addiction and excessive waste of time and
health by constantly using your phone. Also by negative influence, I mean
cyberbullying.
"Our fingers are sharper than a knife blade. They are capable of writing
something that could kill another person."
One day I came across this phrase and remembered it because at that time I
devoted a lot of time to studying Korean culture and met many suicides of celebrities
in their society because of the rude words of haters. These celebrities were bullied by
a huge number of people online, but everyone was indifferent to other people's
problems. It would seem that after the first death, society should have changed and
learned a lesson from this situation, but time passed and everything came back. Those
who bully deceive or hurt other people on social networks think that under the guise
of their nickname on the Internet, they cannot be found. It is unlikely that these
people would behave this way in real life. That is why on social networks you should
not forget about sanity and remember that duplicity can fall on you at any moment.
Another negative effect of social networks is comparing yourself to ideal pictures
on the Internet that have nothing to do with how these people look in real life.
Comparisons of this kind cause dissatisfaction with one's appearance and depression,
which further leads to insecurity and lack of self-love.
For example, I have always tried to create my aesthetic on social networks that
will be associated with me. This means that I may not fit the canons of beautiful girls
with photos on social networks, but I will be myself and this will make me ideal in
my uniqueness.
To sum up, the invention of social networks is the greatest breakthrough in
human history. When watching a biographical film about the creator of Facebook,
Mark Zuckerberg, one can say that his idea of creating a social network for fun
turned the world of communication upside down and had a positive impact on
society. However, if I influenced social networks, I would make a rule that before
expressing my subjective opinion, I need to think about how it might affect another
person. If everyone followed such an easy rule, then people would not be afraid to be
themselves and the world would be a kinder place.
I would like to end with a little personal advice - sometimes you need to give
yourself time to take a break from social networks. It is important to do this to relate
to the rhythm of life easier and more calmly.
