DEFINITION
Admission: MRP: Main
refers to the acceptance of a
Responsible Physician
patient to receive care in DMF . A physician with admission
hospital privileges granted by the
Credentials and Privileges
Committee.
“
>The admitting physician should explain to the patient (or guardian) his/her
condition and the need for admission, the management plan, expected outcome,
and the possible complications.
>The admission office employee should verify the patient's eligibility for
admission, get necessary approvals (in insured patients), determine payment
status, and check bed availability. He/She should explain to the patient/ guardian
the expected cost.
>The admission office employee shall request patient/guardian to read and sign
Admission Consent Form
>The admission office and the ER nurse should notify the concerned ward by
phone about the admission, including the diagnosis, bed allocation, and the MRP
name.
>The ER nurse responsible for the case should escort the patient along with the
relevant documents to the receiving unit, and endorse the case to the receiving
nurse. All critical patients should be escorted by an intensivist during transfer to
the concerned unit.

>ICU, CCU, PICU, NICU, etc.) Once the patient is admitted through the
admission office, he/she becomes the responsibility of the MRP and his/her
admitting team. From that point on, all orders, including labs, imaging studies,
medication, and nursing care instructions should be placed by the admitting team
in the patient's EMR. However, in case of delay of transfer to floor, the ER
nursing team are responsible for carrying the admitting team's orders
>The ER physician is responsible to raise the issue to Medical Director without
delay in cases of dispute between specialties.
PROCEDURES

Elective cases:
>Admission is through the OPD admission office, The patient will have in his/her EMR a
document by the MRP or his/her designee explaining the reason for admission and the treatment
plan (YASASII>> Provider's templates>> Initial assessment form>> Diagnosis and plan). An order
for admission by the MRP or his designee should also be available in the patient's EMR.
>Admission order should specify the date of admission, and a provisional diagnosis. The
admission office should inform the MRP of the admission and the room number to which the
patient was admitted.
>consent for surgery or intervention, as per consent policy, obtained by the MRP or his designee
should be also available in the patient's EMR. This consent should be obtained at the time of the
OPD encounter.
>The admission office should notify the concerned ward by phone about the admission, including
the diagnosis, bed allocation, and the MRP name,
>The admission office employee shall request patient/guardian to read and sign Admission
Consent Form.
>The admission office employee then directs the patient to the designated admission unit.

Day case surgeries
>. Admission is planned in advance, and therefore day case surgeries follow the same processes
and procedures of elective admission. Admission is through the
OPD admission office.
