INTERNAL TEST OF GRID
 NTDC was incorporated as Public Limited Company in November 06, 1998
(license allocated) but started its commercial operations from March 01,
1999.
 In NTDC, there are 03 Deputy Managing Directors (D.M.Ds). These are
includes Asset Development & Management (AD&M), Planning &
Engineering (P&E), and System Operation (S.O).
 NTDC have two Regional Control Centers (R.C.Cs), one is located in
Islamabad called as Regional Control Center North (R.C.C.N) & second is
located in Jamshoro called as Regional Control Center South (R.C.C.S).
 NTDC have total 16 grids of 500kV (with 22,350MVA capacity & 5970km
length of transmission line) & 45 grids of 220kV (with 31,060MVA capacity
& 11,322km length of transmission line).
 DRAKE & GREELEY types of conductor used in 500kV line, RAIL &
GREELEY types of conductor used in 220kV line, HAWTHORN type of
conductor used in 132kV line, and DOG type of conductor used in 33kV to
66kV lines.
 HAWTHORN (900A capacity) & COREOPSIS types of conductor used in
Busbar.
 PTW stands for Permit To Work.
 SCADA stands for Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition.
 Leakage Current Monitoring (L.C.M) Test used to check Leakage Current of
Lightning Arrester.
 Transformer Turn Ratio (T.T.R) Test used to check Healthiness of Winding
& Tap-Changer.
 Timing Test done for Circuit Breaker (C.B).
 Wave Traps (W.T) are used to Capture Telecom Signals.
 Circuit Breaker (C.B) gives protection against Switching Transient
(Switching Transient becomes due to Surge on Lightning Arrester (L.A)).
 Gravels in yard are used to Reduce Step Potential & Provides Easy Path for
leakage current.
 Grounding is done for Live Part of Equipment (like Neutral conductor of
Transformer) & also always having leakage current.
 Earthing is done for Dead Part of Equipment (like Body of Transformer for
Human Protection) & it have leakage current only when any fault occurs.
 The ratio of Maximum Demand to the Connected Load is called as Demand
Factor.
 The total length of Insulator or Bushing is called as Creepage Distance/Path.
 Capacity of battery shows in Ampere-hour (Ah).
 The Tolerance of Frequency is ±1%.
