Academic Integrity
Academic misconduct is unacceptable and includes AI, plagiarism, collusion, and cheating:
• AI (Artificial Intelligence): Generative AI involves searching information it has access to so it
can produce results. This means that AI uses other people’s work to produce content, however it
does not credit this contribution. This violates academic integrity through plagiarism and contract
cheating, as byclaiming AI output as your own work, you are also claiming other people’s work as
your own.
• Plagiarism: involves the use of another person’s work without full and clear referencing and
acknowledgement.
• Cheating: involves presenting another person’s work as your own — this includes contract
cheating.
• Collusion: is a specific type of cheating, that occurs when two or more students fail to abide by
directions from the examiner regarding the permitted level of collaboration on an assessment.

All are seen by the University as acts of misconduct for which you can be penalised. For further
details go to the Artificial Intelligence and Assessment and the Library’s site on Academic Integrity.

• Network (LAN) name is A
• Desktop PC names are DT1, DT2, ...
• LAN Switch names are SW1, SW2, ... For this assignment use Switch_PT.
• Router names are RT1, RT2, ... . For this assignment use 4331.

Links between devices

All DTs linked to switch(es)
• straight through cable.
• usually, ethernet or fast ethernet link.
All switches linked to routers using gigabit links.

(IP) addressing scheme

You are required to use the following addressing scheme:-
• Use the following addressses:-
◦ Network address e.g. 172.16.1.0 /24 (first address)
◦ Broadcast address e.g. 172.16.1.255/24 (last address)
The first (or first few) or last (or last few) available address(es) for devices are usually

• For this assignment we will use the first available address for the gateway router.
• Switch addresses (not needed)
• PC addresses
