transportation to transfer goods from one place to another. This technique makes use of
standardized containers that can easily be moved between different modes of transportation like
trucks, trains, ships, and plane, without the need to physically handle the cargo during the
transfer (Rodrigue & Slack n.d.). Combining various transport modes increases efficiency,
flexibility, and cost-effectiveness in transport.

EXPLANATION OF THE CURRENT MODES OF TRANSPORTATION BEING USED TO

TRANSPORT CEMENT WITHIN THE SOUTHERN AFRICA AND THE REST OF THE WORLD

 ROAD TRANSPORT: This modes of transport is used to transport goods for local
distribution within the Southern Africa example Trucks.
 RAIL TRANSPORT: This mode of such as rail is, used for a longer distance, especially
with cheetah cement transporting vast quantities of cement.
 MARTIME TRANSPORTION: This method is mostly, used for exporting cement across
the southern Africa (World Bank. 2021).

 First Pickup: A truck comes to the origin to pick up the goods and transport it to a port or
rail yard.
 Rail or Sea Transport: For long-distance transportation, the cargo is loaded into a train
or ship. Long distances ate frequently converted by rail because of its capacity and
affordability.
 Final Delivery: The goods are moved back onto a truck for the customer’s final delivery
